We'd have given it nice wooden paneling, and raised our eyebrows in an ironic manner whilst presenting the theory rather than SHOUTING!

@George-K said in Mosquitos: @Jolly said in Mosquitos: I wish y'all wouldn't denigrate our state bird like this. I saw a mosquito in Cheddarland that was so big that its wheels were down, flaps extended, and I could read the number on its tail. We had a man so desperate to get away from the swamp skeeters, he hid under an overturned claw-foot tub in the barn. Imagine his surprise, when one of the skeeters punched a hole through the bottom of the tub with his beak, and then flew off with the tub!

Did you think there would be? Doesn't fit the narrative. Got lots of coverage for the Dem Convention, though, didn't it?

For fifty cents, I can make sure he never sees anything again, including the outside world.

@Axtremus said in Tucker Talks Rural: @Larry said in Tucker Talks Rural: ... And its just one more reason why Trump is the right man for the job. We needed someone who would upset the establishment's apple cart, an apple cart that both parties ate from. And Trump has not get the job done, has not upset the establishment's apple cart -- the hedge funds still get to do all those bad things that Tucker says are so very bad -- Trump has been ineffective. You have got to be the fucking stupidest human being I know.

On a slightly related note, I was telling my wife that I would fully expect (before I die) that there will be relatively affordable trips up to space and back for citizens. I would really love that.

If Rainman was filmed in reverse we could watch him get thinner.

@George-K said in Wakey, wakey! Time for breakfast!: @Aqua-Letifer said in Wakey, wakey! Time for breakfast!: Unsurprising; fast food has tons of calories. (I probably go through 2500 or so a day.) Of course. But, just for a sense of perspective, a Big Mac and medium fries is about 870 calories. Add some OJ for breafast, and you're North of 1500 calories, I'd be. I was shocked. It's better to not think of that stuff as "food," which, David Burton attestations notwithstanding, isn't really the best way to describe it.

You creep geese. Get together with three or four of your buddies, pull the plug out of your shotguns and creep up on a nice rice field full of geese. If you can catch them on the water, as you come up and everybody shoots...Well, you can fill up a pickup truck bed. It's only illegal if you get caught...

@Klaus said in Get your article published: The article is obviously meant as a kind of spoof paper, but I seem to miss the part where it's funny. https://blog.cabells.com/2020/08/12/theyre-not-doctors-but-they-play-them-on-tv/ It soon became clear to our team that even a rudimentary peer review process (or perhaps two minutes on Google) would have led to this article’s immediate rejection. While predatory journals are no laughing matter, especially when it comes to medical research in the time of a worldwide pandemic, it is hard not to get a chuckle from some of the “easter eggs” found within articles intended to expose predatory journals. Some of our favorites from this article: Frasier Crane, a listed author, is the name of the psychiatrist from the popular sitcoms Cheers and Frasier Another author, Alfred Bellow, is the name of the NASA psychiatrist from the TV show I Dream of Jeannie Marvin Monroe is the counselor from The Simpsons Katrina Cornwell is a therapist turned Starfleet officer on Star Trek: Discovery Faber University is the name of the school in Animal House (Faber College in the film) Orbison University, which also doesn’t exist, is likely a tribute to the late, great musician Roy Orbison And, perhaps our favorite find and one we almost missed: In the “Acknowledgments” section the authors thank “Prof Joseph Davola for his advice and assistance.” This is quite likely an homage to the Seinfeld character “Crazy Joe Davola.”
