@Klaus said in A previous cultural revolution: Daniel Hannan has been one of my favorite European politicians in the last decade! He made me, at least in part, a proponent of what he calls "localism". Do you generally follow him or was it just this tweet that raised your attention? I agree, Hannan is someone to listen to. Not only was he very smart when an MEP, but he has also given lectures on American history in the U.S., well worth listening to. It's always sobering when a Brit knows more about Jefferson than most Americans!

There's a blood lust on the left, and they recognize their own cultural power. Does anybody think these people will self-limit due to some abstract principles, when they could use their power and violence to impose their virtue on others? Just look at the real life examples of woke people you know and consider that question. This is the human species and it is dangerous.

CNN is doing a spectacular job covering celebrations around the country, as well as earlier, Trump's speech, flyover of military aircraft of all sorts, as well as vintage military aircraft. Turn on CNN if you are not aware of their coverage, great fun. They also had some Saint-Saens, Debussy, Copland's ubiquitous Fanfare for the Rainman. Fox? Patriotic, right-wing Fox?? Nothing. Nada. Regular programming. Exactly the opposite of what I was anticipating for July 4th coverage. Oh, and Don Lemon was complimenting how his co-host looked hot in a red dress. VERY sexist and inappropriate for CNN.

In my contract it specifically states that my employment can be terminated for any reason, or for no reason at all. I'm not sure that it works that way in practice, as the company has very complex HR and anti-discrimination policies.

Fauci was cautiously optimistic about the summer and we all listened to him. Funny how people don’t mention that as a reason for us letting our guard down. Also Simpson’s paradox may not be correct if the older people are protecting themselves. A massive increase in 35 yo cases does little to the death rate, actually decreases the IFR.
