It is too much of a fantasy, though it sounds good. I am sure if you ask President Trump or Vice President Biden if they meet the three criteria that is listed above, both will answer strongly "yes".

    Yup.
We’ve seen this movie before. The third lane has taken many forms, too many to name over the years. He’s likely to get a good mailing list though.

Rand Paul's point about our need for optimism is useful here. These sorts of numbers do not get disseminated because they do not conform with our pessimism/fear maximization bias for COVID.

That was discussed yesterday. Contrary to politico's ass kissing description of it, it was not a strong man taking the stage who then took questions from reporters over his staff's objections... it was a senile, doddering old man who should be in a nursing home fumbling and stumbling over his own words, who almost could complete his sentences, who then let it slip that his staff had prearranged which reporters he was to call on and what questions they would ask.

Here's the thing - the anarchists have been talking about their plan to deface mount Rushmore, but instead of a discussion about that, we're discussing who will stand where.

Just because Trump doesn't plan on requiring it doesn't mean people won't do it. Pay attention to what actually matters instead of wasting time on shit the media tells you to talk about, or you'll we'll find ourselves standing 6 feet apart watching the mountain explode.

@Horace said in Oh good! WHO: "The worst is yet to come.":

Maybe most other societies are like family that fights a lot but pulls together when they have to. Maybe Americans really do hate each other as only people who don't really know each other can.

I dunno, Horace. I hope you're wrong. Love thy neighbor, and all that.
How many thugs spout "I know my (individual) rights!" as soon as a cop does anything. I included the "individual" in quotation marks to make a point: Individual rights are in our DNA. Some people use it as a hammer, some, I suppose, believe they are making some higher point.

The difference still is, in part, individualism of the West, vs. collective good in the East.

But then again, the first phase of closedown was most of the nation agreeing to do something without screaming about rights. We just did it, out of fear.

Then everything, as if on cue, turned into another political game.

Now there might be another swine flu on the horizon. Just when I thought things can't get much worse. Bad time to be a hog in China. Or pig. Or piglet. Days may be numbered.

@Loki said in COVID-19 patients on statins generally have better outcomes?:

It makes you wonder about every other study you’ve ever read...

Ioannidis made his name with a paper called, ironically, ‘Why Most Pubished Research Findings are False’. And his main focuses was medicine and public health, not just social sciences.

It’s the reason I knew who he was before his popular Covid article.

He would've been so good. He was my top preference in the 2016 primaries.

Me too. Then everything went nuts.

Jeez, what a tough job cops have. Insane.

I agree. It is always easy to "second guess" and look at things from the background when you are sitting in your chair and watching video. But in real time, it is a different story. I certainly would not want to be a policeman.

Not wearing a mask is not mere “personal choice” like deciding between a head covering or a t-shirt. It is a flashpoint for being a free human being who has consented to be governed but has not consented to be ruled. We do not consent to a masked America, because that is a fundamental change in American society, culture, norms, and rights.

To be honest, this just sounds like a more eloquent version of those nutters from Florida.

Agreed. Just another nutter with a trite excuse, IMOSPEO*.
