An alternative might be to have her phone connect automagically all the time, and when she's not in the car, use a NFC button to turn my bluetooth to connect to CarPlay. However, if I leave the car, the device will remember my phone, and not hers. I'd have to remember to disconnect my bluetooth from the device when I leave the car with another tap on the NFC device. Easier than unplugging, but....

What are the stats again? Each year in the USA there are 10,000,000 arrests made, of which about 1,000 deaths by police, of which only 50 involved an unarmed suspect (although there could be justified use, such as using a car as a weapon) and of the 50 I think 35 were white and 18 were black... oh and of all 50...I'm guessing all 50 were resisting arrest. So yes. Don't be a criminal. AND if you are one, don't resist arrest. This would solve 99.9999999% (if not 100%) of the problems people are protesting. Again, ad infinitum, ad nauseum... There exists a culture in the black community, a gangsta-wannabe culture fueled by the illegal drug trade. A culture where drugs, rappers, guns and ho's are glorified. A culture that resents any authority, probably because they are fatherless and have rarely been subjected to authority at home. A culture which does not value education, hard work, thrift or advancing one's station in life. A culture where a felony conviction and a prison term is almost seen as a rite of passage for young black men. You can throw money at this until Hell freezes over and the Devil takes up figure skating and it will not make any difference. The black community must demand and invest in change from within. That won't happen. Society, as a whole, is coarsening and losing many of the things which make it successful...Strong families, strong morals, work ethic, and a sense of duty. Why should the black community aspire to become like the more successful segments of society, when much if those segments are busy lurching tiwards the dysfunction of the black community? And then there are the people making money and careers off of all this mess... Truth... Yep.

@doctor-phibes said in Waiting for my vaccination....: I was quite surprised by how quiet it was in the center of Boston - I haven't been in over a year. I briefly went shopping a few months ago to a place near here, and it was horrendously busy to the point where I didn't feel particularly safe - loads of families with no masks, etc. In the Prudential Place mall in Boston everybody was behaving very well, 100% masks as far as I could see, lots of distancing going on. Even though all the stores were open, there were very few shoppers. I loved my visit to Boston several year ago. Had lunch in a hole-in-the-wall middle-eastern restaurant, so good but I have no clue what it was. And, driving to Portland Maine was not a long drive, but it took $12 in tolls which I thought was a real ripoff. They're talking about placing tolls on our freeways here. Will probably happen, as it's being done behind the scenes. Oh, and the restaurant on a boat was fantastic seafood. I'd love to explore the New England areas, it's so different from here, just a lot of history that Oregon was not a part of.

Oddly enough, I know of plenty of non-Covid deaths - it must be my age. In my team of 7 engineers, 4 of us, including me, have lost a parent, none of them to Covid, in the last year.

Can't really google search using that word, too many unrelated results. I'd like to write an article for Bitch. Actually, I think most people on this forum could write an engaging article for Bitch. Thanks, Bitch! It's published by the American Kennel Club. The fancy scarf in the picture should have given it away. She breeds labs. Top or bottom?

I finally got around to watching this. It is well worth the 2+ hours. We'll never know for sure, but I guess it is a fairly accurate representation.

Yeah the cultural forces I am well acquainted with are irrelevant. As a Canadian, I am sure you can relate. But as an historian, maybe you should be. Yes I am concerned about the provocations and open non compliance of certain segments of the population, most often self professed libertarian and fundamentalist Christian, as well as the lack of will by the elected conservative provincial government to enforce its own regulations: https://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-news/albertans-express-growing-frustration-over-a-perceived-lack-of-enforcement-of-covid-19-rules Stalin smiled. I should certainly hope so, especially after having been mistaken by that other person for Trump. Nah, Trump is American. It is a problem. People have to accept some (maybe not all, but some) of the responsibilities for where they are in life. Continuing to try and blame others does not solve the problem.
