@axtremus said in So... what will be the fallout?:

Edward Snowden made huge personal sacrifice to warn the American people about this sort of electronic surveillance.

At the time, all anyone wanted to talk about here was how much of a traitor he was. His revelations weren't deemed important by anybody.

A glimpse of what they used to be.

I Googled a bit and haven't been able to find the ACLU's official statement on this. I am not yet sure if what's reported is just one ACLU lawyer expressing his personal opinion or if that represents the ACLU official position. So I will wait for the ACLU to make their position on this clearer before getting too hopeful or too worried about where the ACLU might go with this. 🤷‍♂️

Ok, it now appears the story is untrue. Apologies to all concerned.

Who cares? We got some chuckles out of it. That, alone, made it worthwhile.

I always suspected that; sounded a little too "made for the internet" to be believable.

The major means of communication—in today’s terms that means social media—have now been taken over completely by the left.
Not only has Donald Trump—still the president of the United States—been permanently banned from Twitter, its rapidly growing, open-to-all substitute Parler has almost simultaneously been de-platformed by Google.
You can’t get their app for Android anymore.
Apple threatens to be next, demanding Parler kowtow (by Saturday!) to Cupertino’s vision of what the world should be.

What are you still waiting for? Start building your own alternatives to Twitter, Google, Facebook, etc. already.

The point about Android shows much ignorance on the part of the author. Unlike Apple/iOS, Android is open source and anyone can put up an Android “app store” that distributes apps to Android devices. There is literally no way for Google to monopolize Android or ban any third party apps for Android. The Betsy Google can do is to refuse distributing a third party app via the Google Play Store, which is only one of many “app stores” for Android. And as long as you have Android, you have an alternative to Apple/iOS.

We now have a new standard as to what constitutes inciting. Excited to see it applied over the next hours, days, weeks, months and years. We have a benchmark.

A bunch of my completely non-political cousins went full on woke in the course of a weekend.

They had no sense of the historical perspectives here, but saw their friends and all other young people believing something and posting black boxes on instagram. That was enough.

A bunch of them are super low information people with very strong feelings about this now.

@jolly said in Vernon Jones ditches the Democrats:

... If you take a look at much of the black community, they are socially conservative, religious and seek upward social mobility.

I think they fit better in the GOP, than in today's Dem party.

Why do you think most members of the black community identify as Democrats other the Republican then? There is roughly about 10x more Black Americans who identify as Democrats than there are Black Americans who identify as Republicans.

    A couple of things...

The black community is a tight community. Community members are loathe to appear as being too white or be deemed Oreos. Sometimes, they go along to get along. LBJ said he would have them voting Dem for 100 years...Maybe he was right.

Many inner city blacks are chained to the Gibmedat Plantation.

Josh is also doing what “patriots” do. Don’t recall him tweeting other riots and what happened to police, because that’s not his job.

Josh is a CNN journalist and worked directly for Mueller but he only cares about police hurt by certain people.

I am confident that the Office of POTUS carries sufficient E&O insurance to cover civil liability claims of this nature.
