@george-k said in On the vent.: @jolly said in On the vent.: The only thing I found was severe trauma, upper chest. I would assume collapsed lung. Why the vent for that? Exactly. I could see it for a flail chest, but that would've been a HELL of a hit with multiple rib fractures. Sternal flail? @mik said in Power gives you brain damage.: I think the effect of being in a leadership position too long though is true. One of several reasons I left the university.

I worked with a guy who was blown out of the co-pilot seat of a B-52 over Hanoi, the ejection broke both of his legs. The people on the ground were not happy to see him. They stopped beating him just long enough to deliver him to the Hanoi Hilton.

@lufins-dad said in American Thinker du jour - Homeschooling Edition: @jolly We’re looking at it (against our wishes in many ways)… If the kids don't go to public school down here, it's one of two options...The private school or the home schooled. A lot of parents can't afford the $500-$600/month for the private school, so they homeschool. What I'm seeing a lot of, is a small group of parents coming together for schooling in one home or rotating homes, with sports, choir, ensembles and activities done through an association. The sports will be the cheap ones to do, such as soccer, volleyball and basketball.
