    @jolly That’s a good idea.

  • For those vaccinated - confidence level?

    @Optimistic I'm similar to you. We are visiting my parents-in-law in MN starting Saturday, so I'm somewhat cautious until after we arrive, even though they are (just recently) vaccinated too.

    That being said, I'm pretty confident (and the warm weather hitting the east coast this week I think will make lots of folks extra confident!) and am mainly in a weird spot of knowing I have the vaccine but knowing most around me don't yet have it so I continue to wear the mask and keep a distance.

    Like I said in my other thread...combine vaccinations and dropping rates and (most viscerally) warm weather, by June folks will think of COVID as mostly a thing of the past.

    @Doctor-Phibes beat me to the stats, 78% hospitalization is only slightly higher than the whole.

    However, as @George-K has pointed out in the past, this is a vascular disease which would be the hardest on overweight people with vascular issues and diabetics. That’s what we saw. There are aberrations, but that’s to be expected.

    I'm okay with it as a one-time deal. I don't get why the number is higher for younger kids and lower for older. I have a toddler and a (last year) 17 year old. Want to guess which one cost me more?

    I spent far more on my kid during pre-school. Nanny was pricey. I get most people don't hire a full time nanny, but day care is pricey too.

    Not during Covid. No day care, and you would not have let a nanny into your home.

    I think it's been about 5 years at least since I've worn jeans.

    Yep. I find them too heavy.

    It really hit hard if you were a woman and working with Governor Cuomo.

    @mik @George-K

    Good points and I agree contribute. There may also be "gene" factor. I know in the US, they talk about how black people and spanish people get more COVID, than white people.

    One of the factors may be genes

    I think this article is incorrect for a couple of reasons:

    I think it is "empty talk" about adding judges to the Supreme Court of the US. From what I have hear and read, there would not be enough interest from either side to do this. It is a (somewhat) small group of Democrats that want to do this.

    The article says:
    "And the Roberts court has been remarkably resistant to taking up significant 2A cases since McDonald."

    When I looked up that case, it was decide in 2010!! So, to say or suggest that not doing gun cases is because of President Biden and his threat to add judges makes no sense.

    That is interesting. Makes a lot of sense, but was not aware of it.

    I am just guess, but if the price is higher for auto disable syringe, probably not used much in the US. US seems to have a pretty good monitoring system for syringes.

    However, for drug addict people, they may be a good thing. So, maybe in locations where clinics work with those type of people, they are used more?

    I will admit that I do not know much about this situation, but from what I have read, there was a known deadline to pass it.

    The deadline was finished and it had not been passed in that time. Seems pretty "open/close" to me.

    @horace said in Fun with the Uber app:

    Another fun thing I noticed is when I tried to schedule this ride in advance last night. For some reason it was very busy in California at the time so the price was triple normal. Uber automatically locks that price in, ostensibly as a favor to the user, even if the ride is scheduled far out, at a time that would otherwise have normal prices. Last night the ride to the airport cost 170 and this morning 55. So I couldn’t schedule it last night and due to this time zone issue had trouble scheduling it this morning. We ended up using Lyft.

    Same driver, same car, different software platform.
