Covid also made the spot price of WTI go negative in spring of 2020.

Weird shit happens when supply chain disruptions occur.

Urine again, checking for E Coli and other bacteria. Apparently the test on the Friday before had a high E Coli level. On Monday? It was perfectly clear.

    Maybe, maybe not.

Typical protocol is to do a dipstick urinalysis. alt text

If it pings positive for leukocyte esterase, blood, protein (30mg+), nitrite, a microscopic is done. On the micro, if they see bacteria or WBC's, it's cultured. Interestingly enough, lab guys look at spun urine sediment, GU docs tend to look at unspun urine. Go figure.

If the stick is negative and the urine is yellow and clear, it's reported out and the micro is not done. Therefore, no culture on a negative stick.

Lab errors and mix-ups do occur...

That’s not true. He mentioned them emphatically as LGBTwhatever. I think he got a little lost in all the initials. What’s an I?

There is an Work College Consortium that is a bunch of small schools is the region. My SIL works for one. That would be a good place to look. It’s also part of another one that has even more.

Thanks, Jolly. I'm doing somewhat OK. Last June 2nd, I had a heart attack and a stroke, all in one day. Lost too much peripheral vision, so no driving of anything, car or motorcycle. My son takes me to appointments and is doing most everything for me. My wife, after 43 years of marriage, filed for divorce and moved in with her boyfriend, blindsiding me as I thought we had a near-perfect marriage. Docs do say the heart attack and stroke were likely due to the stress I was going through. I've been lurking around here, just not much enthusiasm to participate.

As to buying used as opposed to new busses, it depends on the state. In Oregon, 70% of all transportation costs are directly paid to the district by the State. So, it makes purchase of the busses, land for parking, garage, everything, worth buying or leasing. I know it's a hassle to get rid of the used busses, but yes, some small districts end up buying them. I would guess it does save money for the smaller districts, the school board should be doing a deep dive into the numbers. Also worth considering contracting out the bus services to Laidlaw or other busing companies. But, there is a sense of pride having the district's name on the side of the busses.

Ohhhh..... I had no idea. I'm so sorry, Rainman. You are now in our prayers here at my house. I am so, so saddened at this news.

Imagine that.... some people wait to have a kid or buy a house until they can afford it..... what a concept...

As for the article - if raising the minimum wage to 70k is a cause effect with his company's profits and growth, why not raise it to 140k... or 250k. I can see how saying that well would result in more babies and more home buyers. But then it had to jump the shark by making the claim that it caused company growth and higher profits. That's where it shifted from reality to political and ideological propaganda.

What KFC, McDonalds etc. produce are not chips, and would not be referred to as such in the UK. Polite Britons would refer to them as 'fries' or 'french fries'.

Righteousness begets violence. That is its purpose as an emotion, that is why it was selectively advantageous. People need to be sane and civil to form stable societies, but they also need to have a destructive, bloodthirsty mode. That is what righteousness is.

A certain objective* thinker you know has phrased it as "violence is hypermoralism".

No need for a neologism like "hypermoralism", unless one wants to pose.

I even say it in French in my head while writing it.

I think the same force comes into play on Earth as well. The Earth is a bit deformed, and the tendency is for mass to move towards the equator (lots of other forces at play - so it's not super clean).
