The good news is in the civil war all I will need to do is yell “I was bit by a bat!” and sneeze. My enemies will all run away.

@doctor-phibes said in DirecTV drops OAN: From what I've seen, OAN is a massive pile of crap. Never seen anything on OAN. The idea that they're providing balance against the MSM is laughable. Has Rachel Maddow retracted her conspiracy theory, by the way? Has VP Harris gotten the "Trump Vaccine?" What about MSNBC host Joy Ann Reid? Just wondering.

When an 80 year old dies, a few years might be lost. When a 20 year old dies, decades are lost. So we should be measuring days, months or years lost.

I installed a Naivien tankless about ten years ago. I like it. However I also do all my own annual maintenance on it. Too expensive to have a plumber come out once a year to run vinegar through the system. Costs me $10.00 for vinegar plus a pump that paid for itself on the first system flush. Freed up a whole lot of space in the basement ( we had two sixty gallon tanks) and saved on the monthly gas bill.

@klaus said in Andrew Sullivan on Sex: Witches were burnt. Jews were killed for 2000 years because people believed silly things about them. Silly medical superstitutions killed millions. Of course, you're right, but those were societal things, and the medical superstitions were based on ignorance, because they followed the science - of the day (more bleeding!). This phenomenon seems to be based on feelings of the individual, not based on any science, or norm of society. I know I'm not being clear, but it's the best I can do...

@mik said in Where the money's at.: I grew up around a harness track. We used to go to the harness track in Foxboro it was at the present location of Gillette Field - Pats home field. It is gone now. I think it was on Thursday that they had Grocery Night for the jockey's wives. As long as they didn't get too greedy it was OK if the jockeys told their wives the results before the race happened. And the wives made grocery money. Of course it wasn't talked about, right out in the open. At least that was the rumor, I never saw any proof. But the old guys would curse Grocery Night if they didn't like a result on Thursday night.
