What do you guys think of mirrorless digital SLR cameras?
They're a bit better than DSLRs but either take fine images.
Same sensor technology, although most companies now (outside of Nikon) are putting their R&D into mirrorless.
Digital viewfinders give you more information than an optical, which is what you normally get with a DSLR. True opticals can't give you a live histogram, focus peaking or highlight readings, and digitals can.
A lot of mirrorless cameras are lighter enough to be noticeable.
The downside is the battery life, but that's becoming a moot point.
The only reason to have a DSLR rather than a mirrorless is if you've already invested too much in DSLR glass for the upgrade to be worth it. Which it wouldn't be. That's why Nikon came out with a new DSLR on its standard mount system right before the olympics: the market was professionals in exactly that situation.
