Remington reopening that factory means a lot, for both sportsmen and defense. Like many other businesses, the ammo biz has consolidated. Remington, Federal and CCI are owned by Vista. Their main competitor would be Winchester, owned by Olin. Hornady would be a smaller competitor, along with the small brands of Cor-Bon, etc. But we have a bottleneck...Primers. Only Vista and Olin make primers in the U.S., AFAIK. Previously, reloaders and small manufacturers could source primers from other sources, such as Serbia (Prvi Partizen), Norma (Sweden) or Russia (Tula). For obvious reasons, much of the European supply is unavailable. I'm hoping that opening the Remington factory means the domestic primer problem has gotten better. I think it's one more reason we need to take a look at monopolies, industry consolidation and domestic manufacturing of strategic components. Too many points of failure...

@89th said in DC Defenders: Funny, I have a buddy who has been talking up the DC Defenders for a while now. I always thought he was joking but he seems to be serious... The game yesterday was between two of the league's better teams. It ain't the NFL, but it's not bad. I've seen a few games and they've mostly been pretty competitive. Some of the rules are a little different. I think some are better. Kickoffs are different, and much safer. No kicking for extra points, instead they have a one-point, two-point or three-point conversion, starting at the two, five and ten yard-lines. Teams have a choice between trying for an on-side kick, or getting the ball on their own 35, Fourth and 15. The last two minutes of each half have college clock rules - the clock stops on a first down to move the chains.

Prince Harry is surrounded by victims In a shocking twist after the last three years of Prince Harry’s perpetual victimhood tour, last night in a live therapy session the prince finally admitted what we’ve known all along: that he isn’t one. Back on the stage for a live streamed Q&A with toxic trauma expert Dr. Gabor Maté, Harry claimed, “I definitely don’t see myself as a victim.” You had to pay thirty bucks a head for the pleasure, but boy it was worth it to hear that. Victim, no. Narcissist, maybe. Later in the interview Harry said that sharing his experiences of his terrible life in his bombshell memoir Spare “feels like an act of service.” I’m sure his late grandmother would have different views on what a lifetime of service actually entails. But credit where it’s due: the jig of Hapless Harry’s victimhood can finally be laid to bed. Just kidding. Though Harry doesn’t “see himself as a victim,” that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want us to think he is one. The prince lamented about growing up in a “broken home,” adding that he shipped his family across the pond to break the “cycle of pain” that came with growing up in castles… conveniently ignoring that nearly half of marriages end in divorce and more people now grow up in “broken” homes than whole ones. In fairness, he hardly stood a chance of putting his big-boy pants on with Dr. Maté. His on-stage companion was sympathetic enough to ensure that Harry fermented in his own misery. He was reminded of his trauma at every turn and diagnosed with four disorders, adding a new one to the list, Attention Deficit Disorder — which left even the prince bemused. It’s quite easy to see how Harry ended up in this cycle of victimhood. His on-call team of therapists are there solely to stroke the prince’s ego. The last three years have been spent talking in therapese, with too much “but how did that make you feel?” and not enough conversation about the consequences of his own actions. His wife, the most prolific victim on earth, has found more ways to be persecuted than I’ve had cooked dinners. Meghan stepped out of line? Nope, it’s a press narrative concocted because of her skin color, gender, eye color, hair color, religion, age or weight. Pick one. Maybe California does that to people, but since Harry met Meghan it’s impossible to ignore how fundamentally he has changed. The fun, naughty prince that the world had a soft spot for has been replaced by somebody so gloomy you wouldn’t even want him at your birthday party. The pair have been notably missing from A-list events recently and it’s not hard to see why. Could you imagine being sat next to someone who spends their days doing nothing but tending to their chickens and unpacking their trauma? I think it’s time that Harry got some new friends. I’m all for being more in touch with your feelings, and understand that the days of toxic masculinity and “manning up” are long gone — but Harry is proof that spending your days surrounded by people that validate your victimhood doesn’t do you so well either. "His team of on-call therapists..." LOL.

Wow! Really glad it wasn’t worse. Youngest son “26”, lives in old apartment with radiator heat and got a really nasty steam burn last November. That was a pretty scary phone call from ER and he certainly would attest to how painful burns are. Glad you are doing okay.

The biggest deter from China invading Taiwan is economic. If the world can hold together against Russia and would hopefully respond the same way against China, I think this would stop China from invading.

Yup, you have to be very careful. I think there are possible good investment chances in China, nothing is what is seems however.

@jon-nyc I had to look up the definition of conflate. LOL. Means to to bring together or to blend. I believe that in the article, EV was referring to "traditional" electric powering a battery vehicle. I believe that Toyota is looking at H2 vehicles as different from "EV's" (But I am actually not 100% sure, so will have to research more)

My old high school had pretty crappy boys teams, at least most of the tine. OTOH, our girls were juggernauts. The school trophy case was thirty feet long and littered with girl's state championship trophies. Those girls worked very hard for those trophies. Sweated blood and tears. I have a very high appreciation for female athletes. It cheapens their sacrifice and efforts to compete against faux women.

And the welcome committee, which is the group who hand out coupons and a bottle of wine to new residents And I know where the HOA rules are. Here's one that surprises a lot of people: All roof vents shall be either painted black or another color matching the roof. There are no white PVC pipes coming through our roofs, we are upscale!
