Don't pay much attention to most economists. They're wrong about so much..

@NobodySock said in Destiny, is it a real thing?: @Copper said in Destiny, is it a real thing?: Sardinia offers €15,000 (about $16,200 USD) to those who move to a rural area and renovate a home. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/nri/migrate/17-places-around-the-world-that-will-pay-you-to-move-in/sardinia-italy/slideshow/111550949.cms many have made mention to this deal Italy has going on trying to reinstigate population growth in depressed areas of the country, mostly small towns that are near ghost towns now as the kids, when done with school all end up moving out of country for work. There are sticky rules to take such an offer though. One would be required to pay for renovations desparately needed in these homes in question. much more than the 15K. Yes, I have seen those offers of a house for a euro. From a distance, looks like fun, but I am sure that the reality is not quite as fun. LOL

Mostly just incomplete. But remember the wisdom of the philosopher Charlie Sheen - you don’t pay them to sleep with you. You pay them to go home afterwards.

Bill Barr is educated, experienced, and accomplished. He is also correct, when he agrees with me.

I saw a similar map (which I cannot find now. aargh) which compared the GDP of Silicon Valley to the fifty states (did not include our 51st state - Canada. LOL). Anyway, the GDP of Silicon Valley was higher than the GPD of at least 35 states. But, as was pointed out by folks like @89th and @Jolly, it is a "symbiosis" relationship. One would not survive with out the other.

@jon-nyc said in Mirror, mirror on the wall….: I have mailed him letters to his home and every time I’m in a Hyatt I remind them to let him know. If you have any fault, it's that you care too much.

Without Roundup or other weed and grass killers, modern landscaping and farming is impossible. Choose.

So that’s why restaurants seemed so cheap in France. Maybe this retiring to Europe thing isn’t so bad.

There's a street around the corner from us where a bunch of rich people live, and quite a few of those houses are lit up. I quite enjoy it, TBH. Obviously, it's not particularly classy, but it's kind of fun. Not really worth getting upset over. If it upsets the HOA, all the better (we don't have any of that rubbish here in the wastelands of semi-rural Rhode Island).
