I've heard that family members can't visit their loved ones who reside in nursing homes thanks to the coronavirus. That's hard for the residents as well as their family members who want to visit each other.

MainerMike, you come across as such a nice guy, I would have stood up to the bullies for you if we were kids together.

With some exceptions, I had a great childhood. Like many, I did some really stupid and dangerous things, lucky to have lived through the really boneheaded stuff. Lucky I wasn't caught.
I'd say being a kid, compared to being an adult, was easier. I didn't have to worry about food, clothing, place to live, etc.
Curious what others may think in looking back.

    Take Tylenol for fever.

That was the big thing early on... All the warnings about Ibuprofen. Was there ever an official determination about the efficacy and/or risk from Ibuprofen?

Anyway, good luck, man. Like I said before, because of my FIL's situation, I think you've many reasons to be optimistic, no matter what happens.

This sounds really stupid, but it's definitely true for me: when people (oh let's just say my pathological co-workers) piss me off, staying calm and pleasant because it's the Christian thing to do is almost entirely ineffective for me. But if I can find a way to fully empathize with them, even if I disagree and think they're terrible humans, I can keep from getting pissed. Their actions may be disgusting, but at least they make sense, they're understandable. I don't know why that douses the fuse, but very often times it does.

Good time to be looking at what is and is not really necessary on all levels. The higher the level the more unnecessary programs. Ohio has already started instituting cuts at all levels. Washington is now talking about printing more money. They never learn.

    @jon-nyc said in NYPD:

    5300 cases, 41 deaths.

    https://abc7ny.com/nypd-death-coronavirus-nyc/6157647/

That’s 10% of NYPD that has coronavirus(that they know of) I wonder how representational that is of NYC.

A week ago or so the city finished a serology test that suggested 21%. Yet the police, ems, and front line heathcare workers all have lower numbers (10-17%). Not sire how much of that reflects the selection bias in the public test.

I have seen almost no public voice from the folk who've lost businesses. This may be the bias of those who report stuff on TNCR but that's probably not entirely the reason. In this time of peak sanctimony it's important not to confuse the masses about which side can be sanctimonious.

@Larry Longmire was a TV series based on a series of novels. Premise is that Walt Longmire is the sheriff of a county that borders on an Indian reservation. He has to observe the border between his county and the reservation. If he wants the cooperation of the tribe for anything that might have occurred on the rez, he needs the support of tribal police and elders.

Great series (and it had Katee Sackhoff in it, which, in and of itself makes it worth watching - google her if you don't believe me).

@Axtremus said in Swastika and KKK hood as masks:

Sadly, some people actually wear these:

    KKK hood mask:

I'm glad to see that this upsets you. Especially since the KKK was established by the Democrat party.

Thankfully, today the KKK is pretty much a dead horse, with only a very few people who use its symbols such as the hood for occasional shock value.

Today's democrats have gone on to a new form of bigotry, called Antifa. The white robes have been replaced by black outfits. The white hood has been replaced by black masks. But the hate is the same, and the political group that spawned it are the same.

The KKK was disgusting. But it's dead. Anyone wearing a white hood today is a lone wolf just looking for attention. If you wish to express disgust at a hate group and be current, express your disgust toward the current hate group, Antifa - and toward the political party that birthed them both.. the Democrat party.

The CDC wanted it published, the White House quashed it, until the Associated Press broke the story, then the White House want it revived, except the guidelines for the churches/communities of faith.
