@xenon said in One half of NYC COVID Hospitalizations are for COVID: but I see way more engagement on Twitter from Trump-aligned people than lefty loonies. Way more. It's a conservative plot to get Twitter shut down. Shh.... don't tell anyone.

Strange using the concept “in real time” about something that happened 120 million years ago…

I have no clue about the RX-A but I’m a big fan of the Shigeru Kawais. I almost bought a SK-6.

COVID comes in waves. You do a few here and a few there and then you get smoked. During the "getting smoked" phase, you are running out of kits and are becoming desperate. You don't want another manufacturer, because then you have to do a new method comparison to satisfy the CLIA gods. So you ask for what you can get. Short dated? Send 'em! The BD kits I was using Sunday expired on the 22nd. They had been in the lab for a week.

@george-k said in $600? Report it.: @lufins-dad said in $600? Report it.: Sheesh, @George-K , I even tagged you! https://nodebb.the-new-coffee-room.club/topic/14018/peer-to-peer I don't know how I didn't see that thread! That’s okay! We both agree that change will raise very little tax revenue. My question is whether it ends up actually costing us money. I think it will. Our house cleaner just asked us to stop paying by Venmo and give cash or check instead. I doubt that a single dollar of that $150 will ever go to taxes. On the other hand, the guy that I just bought the 1952 Steinway from will have to file a crapload of paperwork to explain that Zelle transaction.

I've never seen "Hamilton," so I was unaware of this: This song, which is one of the most beautiful in the show, is performed by Aaron Burr. Of course, the Jefferson Administration charged Burr with treason. According to some accounts, Burr actually hatched a plan to conquer North America, and overthrow the American government. The history is muddy. I remember Chernow's biography of Hamilton pointing that out. Oh, well, let's all sing... [Burr:] Dear Theodosia, what to say to you? You have my eyes. You have your mother's name When you came into the world, you cried and it broke my heart I'm dedicating every day to you Domestic life was never quite my style When you smile, you knock me out, I fall apart And I thought I was so smart You will come of age with our young nation We'll bleed and fight for you, we'll make it right for you If we lay a strong enough foundation We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you And you'll blow us all away… Someday, someday Yeah, you'll blow us all away Someday, someday [Hamilton:] Oh Philip, when you smile I am undone My son Look at my son Pride is not the word I'm looking for There is so much more inside me now Oh Philip, you outshine the morning sun My son When you smile, I fall apart And I thought I was so smart My father wasn't around [Burr:] My father wasn't around [Hamilton:] I swear that [Burr/Hamilton:] I'll be around for you [Hamilton:] I'll do whatever it takes [Burr:] I'll make a million mistakes [Burr/Hamilton:] I'll make the world safe and sound for you… …Will come of age with our young nation We'll bleed and fight for you, we'll make it right for you If we lay a strong enough foundation We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you And you'll blow us all away... Someday, someday Yeah, you'll blow us all away Someday, someday

@jolly said in The Alternate: @larry said in The Alternate: You would not believe how many big name artists come in and lay out tracks like that and then say "Ok, that's what I've got.... do something with it..." someone else "writes" the song, the artist gets the credit, someone else gets money. A lovely way of doing business, if I do say so myself.... In this case it sounds like Nicks was just laying out the lyrics for a partially fleshed out tune, the tune she was using was just throwaway to get the lyrics down. A single step along the path of making the sausage. So...Is there a team of people who rework these songs or is it mostly the vision of a producer? Ir all depends. Sometimes the artist group themselves flesh it all out in the studio. Tracks will get recorded that are for that purpose only, bits and pieces pulled from here or there get stitched together, the band puts it together, or the producers, the finalized idea gets learned and rehearsed, and then the real tracks get laid. Sometimes the suits say "hey, that sounds worth pursuing - send that to _______ and have it reworked."
