How do you like them electric vehicles now?

Srsly, though, I think this pipeline thing will be resolved in a few days. Sucks if you are already running out of gas now, but my guess is that supply and pricing should come back to normal ranges in a few days to a week's time. It's computer software problem, not hardware infrastructure damage, so fixing it should be relatively quick.

I think you are 100% right. No way to stop the hoarding of gas though so in the short run we will be inundated with pictures of gas lines and talk of 1970’s redux. It’s a personal choice if you want to watch or do something else.

I think the supply chain runs a lot thinner than you guys think. There may be a strategic reserve of some size, but on the consumer end? Not much more than a week. Most people fill their tanks once a week. How long has the pipeline been down? Coming up on a week. Over 40% of Virginia’s gas stations are empty, and I did not see anybody there filling up tankers. It was all personal vehicles. I doubt much hoarding is happening, and is it panic buying when you need gas and stations are running out with the earliest possible relief still 4 days away at the soonest?

The Suez Canal problem is wreaking chaos throughout international shipping and manufacturing and will be causing these problems to linger for months to come. Did you know there were containers full of the precious semiconductors car manufacturers are screaming for on board the Ever Given? That delay is costing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of business down the line. Car Dealers are laying off employees because they don’t have enough inventory and customers are laying off buying because the prices for new and used cars are inflated. The shortage now was before the Suez Canal issue. That just delayed the recovery by months.

I had to buy gas this morning. It's always higher out here than in town.

$2.72/gallon, Shell regular, no waiting. Of course, all of ours is trucked in.

The price at Costco was $2.79, most of the regular stations are between $2.89 and $3.05.

@89th @Aqua-Letifer @Copper The Chantilly Costco line was all the way back to Rt. 50 when I left. Sterling Costco was shut down for a while by the police because the parking lot was impassable and they were creating a hazard on 7 East and Cascades.

I topped off using premium 93 today, all the other regular 87 pumps were barely dripping out. My Honda Accord says I have about 580 miles until empty now.

The mass hysteria over events that will pass really should be studied, not that the results will change behavior but at least we will understand why we behave that way.

Interrupting your day to save twenty cents a gallon and stopping at Starbucks for the known wait is pretty funny when you think about it.

Yes, I agree. It is like last year at the start of COVID with people buying stuff.
