The mass hysteria over events that will pass really should be studied, not that the results will change behavior but at least we will understand why we behave that way.
Interrupting your day to save twenty cents a gallon and stopping at Starbucks for the known wait is pretty funny when you think about it.

I had to buy gas this morning. It's always higher out here than in town.
$2.72/gallon, Shell regular, no waiting. Of course, all of ours is trucked in.

I never bought the Chantilly Costco gas, I thought of those pumps as something new and never got around to trying them. But I did spend a lot of time in that Costco.

Sucks if you are already running out of gas now, but my guess is that supply and pricing should come back to normal ranges in a few days to a week's time. I think you are 100% right. No way to stop the hoarding of gas though so in the short run we will be inundated with pictures of gas lines and talk of 1970’s redux. It’s a personal choice if you want to watch or do something else.

The Suez Canal problem is wreaking chaos throughout international shipping and manufacturing and will be causing these problems to linger for months to come. Did you know there were containers full of the precious semiconductors car manufacturers are screaming for on board the Ever Given? That delay is costing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of business down the line. Car Dealers are laying off employees because they don’t have enough inventory and customers are laying off buying because the prices for new and used cars are inflated. The shortage now was before the Suez Canal issue. That just delayed the recovery by months.

I topped off using premium 93 today, all the other regular 87 pumps were barely dripping out. My Honda Accord says I have about 580 miles until empty now.
