Thought I’d start a thread to report on whether/how much travel sucks in this record-breaking shutdown given my numerous flights over the next 10 days.

I’m at LGA. I woke up to a message saying the flight was delayed 85 minutes. Fortunately that will not screw up my day if it doesn’t get worse.

Through security in <5m with Clear + TSA PreCheck. Just PreCheck had a wait time of 30 minutes. Can’t imagine what non-precheck is like.

Delay is now 2hrs and 17m.

They added 50m to the delay just 4m before boarding was supposed to start.

Just so you know I’ll be periodically sending links to this thread to Chuck Schumer’s office. Maybe my suffering can serve a purpose.

On the plus side, maybe Chuck will join and start posting here!

Those delays suck already. I have flown first class only once (on a trip to DC) and even then the Precheck line was faster than the "1st class" line.

BTW... surprised we don't have a thread on the UPS crash yet.

Apparently it was close enough to Dewey’s house that he could smell the fires in his house.

Now it’s 3hr 20m delayed. I’ll be late to my first meeting.

By the way I would have gotten there quicker had I driven and left my house at the same time.

I even thought about it this morning but I didn’t get enough sleep to drive 4 hours.

There’s maybe 20 people on the plane. It was 3/4 full when I checked in last night.

Trump administration just issued order to 40 major airports to cut flights by 10% starting Friday.

I am scheduled to fly tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.

Just made reservations for Christmas trip. Hopefully this will be over by then.

I fly back to NY tomorrow. The good news is Friday’s trip is DC, which I could drive to if necessary.

Widespread air travel disruptions should be a non-starter politically, the first non-starter we've encountered in the shutdown.

My flight back to LGA is only delayed 30m. I got through security in BOS in 2 minutes (Clear, PreCheck).

There were some news cameras here I guess waiting for chaos but so far it looks normal.

Surprisingly, my flight to DC is still showing on time.

The good news is it’s from Westchester, so not far from my house. And if they cancel it I can just drive.

I’m going to the annual conference of the AASLD (American Association for the Study of Liver Disease), colloquially known as ‘The Liver Meeting’. The good news is the important events don’t start until tomorrow so it doesn’t matter if I’m delayed by having to drive.

Mine was less than 15 minutes delayed, slightly longer queueing time waiting to get onto the runway, basically on-time as far as I am concerned.

Good to hear. I haven’t followed the news. Took my daughter to Mall of America today. Fun times!
