I'm thinking Copper has a worthwhile complaint. Politics, politics, politics. Always, all good in it's place. But in the past we were much more than that. We used to be charming and witty and the kind of people that post interesting articles and talk serious trash about snail mating and movies and "damn those French people".
At one time TNCR was the coolest place in the f---ing universe. Really. Let's go back to that again. We're the same people. We can do better.
A bit of a rant there...

I do try to introduce other things. But Trump does seem to suck up all the oxygen everywhere. Personally Iām tired of it already and willing to see where it goes once the PT Barnum wears off. Much of what he says is mere distraction anyway.

Yea. We all know Trump is a POS. But he's the best we have had in a long time. To be honest Ax, your BEST posts were the ones where you posted ten years of dinners you ate before you deleted them. (Or something like that.)
That was about five years ago... what have you been up to?

OK, so maybe I was a little harsh, I didn't calculate the actual pro/con post counts.
If you would like to demonstrate your hatred, please continue.

... what have you been up to?
Gained maybe 20 lbs. and added 2 inches to my waistline.
Commensurate increase in cholesterol levels.
Someone totaled my compact hybrid and I replaced it with a gas powered compact.
Replaced a minivan that has given up the ghost with a hybrid SUV.
Oh ... a lot more white hair.You?

Trump is news. We discuss news. It doesnāt help that heās prolific with the scandals, corruption, and chaos. If youāre a Trump supporter I can see why reading about it here could get old.
Politics are temporary, relationships are less so, IMO. Iāve seen the discourse here change from Bush to Biden, I know others have seen even more. Folks come and go, read what you want, ignore what you donāt like⦠I like the wide range of ideas and experiences and values your online friendships far more than temporary political events.

All good people here. Love you all!
I think I mentioned this when I posted a picture of my childhood home.
This place reminds of the square in front of the temple where people would gather most evenings to drink (mainly tea), smoke, and solve the worlds problems.
People didn't always agree with each other, but at the end of the evening, things were (mostly) smooth and everybody returned the next evening for more of the same. LOL

This in turn prompted me to go suite shopping and I was surprised to learn that "pleated pants" are no longer a thing. While I bemoaned the loss of "pleated pants" and researched alternatives, I learnt also that the places that I thought I would get a new suite for no longer expect suites -- slacks and jeans are the norm now.
I have since transitioned from Walmart coutures to Columbia fishing shirts and Costco jeans.
Footwear has largely gone from leather to Sketchers. Still no shoelaces. I even got rid of the Velcro and just go with slip-ins these days.
A pair of cheapo yellow foam sandals that I have been wearing every day in the house for 15 years still refuse to wear out. So at least I still have that constant in my ensemble.

Funny, just yesterday my wife was talking about how great her sketchers slip-ins were that she got from Costco. Maybe I'll get a pair.

Timely. Iām going to go try some Allen Edmondās this Thursday. I got very used to Rockports for a decent looking but VERY comfortable casual dress shoe. Back about 15 years ago, I was spending 12 hours a day on my feet. The Rockports looked okay and were built on a sneaker platform, so weāre very comfortable. And while they were on the high end cost wise of the disposable shoes (you donāt really repair Rockports) they held together VERY well, and I could typically get 2 years out of a pair (1 year as the dressier option, year 2 as the slightly scuffed more casual option). That was a decent enough trade off, IMO. Maybe 4 years ago, the quality took a big nosedive, though. So the past two years, Iāve been kludging together cheap dress shoes just due to not having the time or inclination to go out and really look for higher quality shoes. My better half has convinced me thatās far more a waste of money than going out and finding an upgrade like Allen Edmondās or Carmina which can be repaired/resoled/etc⦠So this Thursday, I get the joy of going shoe shopping with my lovely bride.

On style:
You people need a STYLIST! I have one and he's fairly inexpensive. Mine's Tim Gunn, the gayest guy in the world. He was president of the Parsons School of Design.
He's on Project Runway. I have never actually watched a show BUT he shows up with an outfit, I copy the outfit as best I can with what is is my wardrobe. Life can't be better!I have a lot more hair and I'm WAY better looking but we're the same age and he's got style and I "borrow" it.
