If Fauci hadn't had a 6m/year SS detail, nobody would have raised an eyebrow. It's not an obvious thing that "of COURSE Fauci would have a 6m/year SS detail!". But news that Trump terminated this thing that nobody would have assumed existed, well, opportunistic shaming is opportunistic. Anyway, maybe GK's link is right, and it was already terminated under the Biden admin.
It's amazing how quickly left-leaning people have learned of the inalienable right of public figures to have permanent 6m/year secret service details. I bet the thought had never crossed anybody's mind, until it played a role in shame dunking against orange man.
I really don't mind them losing the details, but let's not try and pretend this isn't personal for your guy.
I won't pretend that it can't be framed that way. I'd like to see a list of comparable people who Trump has allowed to keep the free bodyguards. I guess O'Brien is one. Is the list populated by Trump boot-lickers? That would be the narrative, so I'd like to see the list.

Elections have consequences.

Do you honestly think a detailed analysis is needed? Everybody can see how personally your man takes everything. It's actually pretty funny. I'll save my outrage for later. I'm sure something will crop up.

I think people underestimate him in general. Of course there's some truth to that perception, but in the telling, it gets hyperbolic.

Sometimes.
But you have to admit, he may have had the best first week in many years.

Heard David French on a podcast today: "In a just society, Donald Trump would be brought up on charges if anything happens to any of the people he's removed security from". Talk about no limiting principle. On the contrary, apparently there's a principle to keep free bodyguards on all controversial ex-government figures in perpetuity, with legal exposure for any president who doesn't follow that principle.
Also in that episode, they mused that Trump's spite knows almost no bounds, since Pompeo is known to be a Trump advocate. (I've heard Tucker call him an absolute ass-licker). From this, they extrapolate that Trump's spite must have been triggered by something infinitesimal. It never occurred that these revocations of free bodyguards are just a house-cleaning for a government benefit that doesn't actually make sense.

"You can't have a security detail for the rest of your life because you work for government," Trump told reporters, when asked about the decision on Friday. "It's very standard."
Did President Trump have government provided security after he left the president office?

Yes, ex-presidents get SS protection for life, by law.

I was actually trying to be sarcastic.
