Rotisserie Chicken
-
I walked down to the grocery store to pick up some staples and a rotisserie chicken for tonight's dinner.
I saw that in addition to the usual "Wonder Roast" chicken they had a new brand - some kind of Amish-branded chicken.
I asked the girl at the deli counter what the difference was, and she told me that the Amish is "cage-free" "free-range" chicken and has no, zero, nada antibiotics in its feed - EVER!!
I told her, "Thank you, but you forgot to mention one more difference - $5.00."
She laughed and said, "Yeah. As a matter of fact if you go to the meat counter, the rotisserie chicken is cheaper than if you make it yourself.
She was right.

At Costco it’s $4.99. The rotisserie chicken is almost as holy as their $1.50 hotdog and coke. Tasty as hell, but so full of who knows what that I don’t have it more than 3-4 times a year.

Now… Do you have any Peruvian Chicken places around you? That’s worth eating.

I paid $9.99. $5 savings is not enough for me to drive to Costco, park, etc.
Our grocery store is 533 feet away, door to door.

Got a recipe - NYT and have ordered the required chile pastes. Jon, maybe your beloved could share?

She makes fun of me when I use a recipe. She just ‘makes’ it.
But yeah, pollo a la brasa is a staple for her.
I will say this - she loves my Peruvian green sauce. Which I do make from a recipe. And I’ve been making it for a decade or more.

No Costco here. I do the Sam's for $4.98. Great for gumbo.

I’ll post mine a little later. I make my own Aji Amarillo Sauce. I also make a drip pan potatoes underneath.
