It's an interesting question, to what extent did the civilians fight back, and to what extent were they armed sufficiently to do so.

The question is to what extent they were taken by surprise.
The element of surprise in warfare cannot be underestimated. Stonewall Jackson was a consummate master of repeatedly using the element of surprise to enable his smaller and weaker forces to rout or defeat a larger and better equipped union forces. Many other examples of such throughout history.
It is difficult enough for trained soldiers to defend against surprise attacks let alone civilians and civilian militias.

But Renauda, where is the surprise when you can hear the shooting going on in the next block?

Believe me it’s there amidst the all the yelling, crying, explosions and shooting. When you’re on the receiving end it’s most often referred to as shock.

Renauda, yes, I see your point. I guess I would try to lay low with my family members, maybe hide if we're home. I would also guess people would have a plan what they would do when this situation occurs. Here, I'd get in my car with family and head north. But really, who is going to attack Oregon? I've only lost so-much sleep over it.

Anyway, it remains interesting the degree to which the civilians mounted a defense. I understand the music festival where much of the damage was done, was on the outskirts, and not immediately defensible.

All those towns in the south have sort of internal quasi army self defense units all armed with military weapons. Many of them were simply overwhelmed in numbers. In some places they succeeded in wiping out the marauders but obviously not everywhere. Kibbutz Beeri had 100 members dead. Some were families including children tied up and executed.
There will be no mercy anymore. Gaza will be turned into rubble. And if hezbollah is so inclined, Beirut will also be turned to rubble.
The American aircraft carrier is a message to Assad and Putin on whose side the USA stands. -

Okay. For every Israeli executed, five more buildings go down.

Left up to me, I'd set off a neutron bomb in the middle of the strip, let the corpses pile up and rot, while cutting off all water, utilities and medical aid for thirty days. Let the plague take its course.
Wanna go medieval? Treat them like the Canaanites.

A modern day version of Edward the Black Prince’s tactic of Chevauchée would suffice. No need for WMD of any sort.

That makes sense to me.
Stay safe.

I do not like that "no mercy anymore."
At least as a blanket statement. -

Israeli death toll up to 800. “At least” 150 hostages.
Jesus.

On Bari Weiss’s podcast she interviewed a mom whose 12 and 16 year olds were abducted.
It’s hard to listen to.

From a BBC story in March
Israeli gun ownership is low at about 2% of the population. It compares to about 30% of the population owning a gun in the US.

I'm surprised to see it that low.
