Contemplating doing some kitchen work. I have a drop-in 30" electric right now, but am contemplating propane. If I do, do I go back with a 30" like this:
Or is 36" worth the cabinet work and hassle ?
Do keep in mind, I'm a frugal squirrel and want to spend no more than I have to...

We are at 30 and with the new cooktops, you can get more going. They have figured out how to maximize that space.
In a perfect world I would get a 36. I wouldn’t deal with the redoing however to get there at this stage in life.
If I were you and had your skills and your likely more cooking I would probably go for it. You won’t regret in the end and you will smile each time you see it…unless of course you don’t want that presence in your kitchen. The eye will gravitate to it every time. A 30 is much more subtle.

We already know what you're going to do. Enjoy the 36" once all the work is done and enjoy the fact that you can't spend your money when you're dead.

Ever hear any cook complain that his stove top is too big?

Your family does a lot of big cooks. 36" if, and only if, you are going to remodel anyway.

We've got a 30" - wish we had a second oven - but 4 burners are plenty.

I love having a dual oven - even if the one at the bottom is small. It works great for casseroles, baked potatoes, or just any time that I want to make two things that require different temperatures.
In retrospect, however, a bigger "toaster oven" on the countertop might have done the job as well.

Funny thing is this isn’t refurbished. It was purchased 69 years ago and installed right there. I actually have the owners manual downstairs.
Look at the state of that chrome and the stencils. They don’t make them like that anymore.
