"Do Masks Work?"

It's really frustrating. People scream "Follow the science!" when there really is no good science that it makes a difference. Looking at North and South Dakota seems to be a good comparison (though, I'm sure there are many uncontrolled variables).
People who mask probably "socially distance." Which is the variable that makes a difference? I'll submit that we'll never know.
You're not going to get a good peer-reviewed double-blind study.
Those comments said, yeah, I wear a mask because, well, why the hell not? It might make a difference.
It might not.
But, I still don't see any compelling science.

I wore one today going into a small green grocer, because they recommended it. I did not when I got my haircut. Who knows. If I am in a place where a lot of folks are I don't mind.

That’s my view as well.

If the "science" used to justify masks were applied to vaccines, we'd have no one vaccinated.

I wear a mask to be respectful and don’t when other people aren’t wearing them. I don’t worry much about Covid for myself at the moment but I wouldn’t go to an indoor venue for a music event.
I’ve been flying a bit and see that people are good about wearing masks, and right ones and shape right up when they are told to put it over their nose. I can’t tell if some people are trying to test the system but I see they value more not being on the no fly list.

As pointed out by your post earlier about the 2 month spikes, the results of these tests could be based simply on where in the timeline we are measuring….

You mean the study that did nothing of the sort? It ended no debate.
What level of assurance would you need to feel comfortable with a rough rule of thumb?

It was Bangladeshi statistics.
What percentage of the Bangladeshi people can count to 10?
Find a country where at least 50% of the survey respondents can understand the question.

Defense of the study.

Looks like we may get an answer.
