Theories about Trump remaining in power just because he chooses to, are great, until you realize he doesn't have a way to enforce staying in power. Except through a military coup. And round and round the argument goes. I promise, any story where Trump steals the presidency, is a theft by force. Military, police, etc. There has never been a coherent story where Trump steals the presidency through paperwork.

A military backed coup is theoretically possible in the US, but it won’t be for Trump. You can take that to the bank.

The Trump Organization has begun selling red hats online with the slogan "Trump 2028" embroidered in bright white along the front, as well as T-shirts with the slogan.

The hats were listed for $50 with the description: "The future looks bright! Rewrite the rules with the Trump 2028 high crown hat. Fully embroidered with a snap closure in the back, this will become your new go-to hat."

I heard a hypothesis that Trump likes to imagine the possibility of Trump 2028, and likes to put the possibility out there, so he can feel he's not a lame duck president. So he can act and be treated as if he's not lame duck. Makes sense.

I doubt he’d be treated as a lame duck anyway, at least by the GOP, what with his control over his ~40MM mindslaves.

For the immediate future, will he accept the results of the Canadian election? He's said that the Canadians really want to be part of the US, however this seems a tad controversial, so it's just conceivable that he could be mistaken. Hard to countenance such a thing, I know.

                  I was only joking

Trump had better, seeing that his policy of tariffs and other assorted threats against Canadian sovereignty have single-handedly stolen the election from the Conservative Party of Canada and all but ensured a Liberal Party majority on Monday evening.

I expect they will follow the lead of their MAGAt brethren and demand obedience from the majority of the country following Monday’s election. Trump has been musing about 'nationalizing' the election (though only in certain states, so really taking it over in blue states). He has specifically said that if Congress won't do it, he'll do it by EO.

Now this. Hopefully the courts can save us.

What could go wrong when you have a petulant sore loser with nearly unlimited executive order power combined with his favorite narcissistic false reality topic of a stolen election?

So is he just trying to get back in Trump’s good graces or are they planning some mischief for midterms and need a cover story?

Hegseth also evaded question from Congress as to whether he’ll deploy troops to polling places during the election.

                                    https://macleans.ca/politics/i-dont-recognize-alberta-anymore/

Since the day I was born, 46 years ago at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta has shaped who I am. I can sing the words to “Four Strong Winds,” our unofficial provincial anthem. I’ve visited more rodeos than I can count. My first vehicle was an old pickup, and I taught myself to parallel park using two round hay bales. I’ve spent Saturdays on my family’s acreage, cleaning horse manure out of our barn and helping neighbours with their cattle. I know the beauty of a prairie sunset, and I’ve watched the sun rise in Alberta’s Rockies.

Despite my love for the Wild Rose Province, I’m Canadian first, Albertan second. The flag that hangs in my office is the Maple Leaf. When people abroad ask where I’m from, I don’t miss a beat in saying I’m Canadian. This national identity has taught me about the power of multiculturalism, the beauty of bilingualism and the idea that peacekeeping—and a willingness to understand one another—can move the world in a better direction. Alberta is imprinted on my heart, but Canada is part of my soul.

                                      https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/alberta-separation-referendum-televised-address-9.7208162

Premier Danielle Smith says Albertans will be able to vote in the fall on whether they want the province to hold a binding referendum on separating from Canada.

In a pre-recorded speech broadcast Thursday evening, Smith said a question will be added to a provincewide referendum in October that will ask, “Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the Government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”

Smith said a vote in favour of separation doesn’t trigger the process, but will instead allow Alberta to start a legal process required to hold a binding referendum.

In her address on Thursday, she also affirmed that she would vote in favour of staying in Canada.
