@Jolly said in Proud Boy leader sentence to 22 years for Jan 6:

You're good with the weaponization of the Justice Department? You're good with punitive sentences worthy of a Soviet kangaroo court? You hate people that much?

Is there anything I said that isn’t true?

Btw for the sentence length, I’d have to look into it but I’d imagine there are sentencing guidelines that influenced the decision.

If Trump believes that cheating happened, is he lying? The greatest number of mail-in ballots ever, with the lowest over all rejection rate, ever. The Hunter Biden laptop story, intentionally squashed by almost all of the MSM, aided and abetted by a helpful FBI. Of course, a hundred intelligence people actively putting their signatures to a lie about the laptop helped, too. Helped to the tune of 1 in 6 Biden voters saying after the fact, that if they'd known the laptop story was true, they would not have voted for Biden.

Influence the decision? Let me tell you something, stud duck, when you can show me that antifa goons get the same sentences for their crimes as do the January 6th rioters, I'll listen objectively. Until then, its nothing but political vengeance, perpetrated by Federal law enforcement and the courts, as punishment for having committed a crime against their authority and power.

How dare you question The Swamp's power. Ve must teach these schweinhunds a lesson. A lesson they must not forget!

    Eat ze bugs!

@Jolly Yeah but Trump knew what he was saying wasn't accurate, so the very first question in your reply has the answer. He was spreading lies and every possible conspiracy theory to get his base spun up and inspired many people to commit crimes that they're now going to prison for. SAD!

I have no problem with antifa or BLM or other rioters getting punished for their crimes, too.

And if Trump wasn't The Swamp, then he was at least The Quicksand, at least in the eyes of so many of his associates who are now paying the price for following Trump.

        For some perspective.

Both of the people convicted in the (actual) bombing of the Senate in 1983 received lighter sentences.

On December 6, 1990, federal judge Harold H. Greene sentenced Laura Whitehorn and Linda Evans to prison for conspiracy and malicious destruction of government property. The court dropped charges against three co-defendants, two of whom (including Susan Rosenberg) were serving prison sentences already for related crimes. Whitehorn was sentenced to 20 years; Evans, to 5 years, concurrent with 35 years for illegally buying guns.

On January 20, 2001, the day he left office, President Bill Clinton commuted Evans's and Rosenberg's sentences.

That's the problem. You have to prove that in court. It may be true that he knew, but proving mens rea is a steep climb.

What I don't understand is that you think that somehow the hundreds (maybe thousands) of people involved with the case, including people appointed by Presidents Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden, jury selected per US protocol, and not only in this case but the hundreds of others, that somehow.....

all these people involved conspired to find these people guilty and send them to jail. And yet you say that the majority of the people in the US support President Trump. (And therefore it would seem that they would also support what happened on Jan 6).

Yet, somehow these people involved are found guilty and sentenced to jail.

What is the English saying - if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, smells like a duck, well, it is probably a duck!!

You may understand numbers, but I don't think you understand human nature and the culture of the Beltway. I've written extensively on why I think the arrests, incarcerations and sentences are far beyond what is normally experienced in the American judicial system.

I am hoping to see a writeup someday of an apples to apples comparison of crimes and punishments for these charges, going back a few decades.

Regardless of the ad hominems thrown at the judge, or whether they are misplaced, it will be nice to see a demonstration that the prosecution and sentence is in line with similar prosecutions and sentences through recent history.

If the sentence is out of line, that's an interesting thing regardless of whether the judge fits certain tribal characteristics. And even as far as the tribal characteristics in question go, membership in the federalist society and an appointment by the Trump administration is not dispositive of being a never-Trumper.

Someone who has been in Washington DC for a number of years?
