I believe they did intubate him.

Concerned how Tee Higgins feels. He was the receiver Hamlin was tackling.

But mechanical ventilation would indicate respiratory distress. Would V-tach or fib have respiratory consequences?

No, no immediate consequence, but if you have a period without adequate circulation, your brainstem isn't getting blood, and that's where the respiratory centers live.

They probably intubated him on the field (or in the ambulance) and used bag ventilation until transportation.

NFL teams have docs in the stadium. This is interesting...

The play looked ok to me, I didn't see anything like a dirty hit.

The league just needs to cancel the damn game.

At this point I assume they are working through playoff scenarios with or without a result in this game.

And how to deal with ticket holders

And the bookies are scratching their heads.

There won't be any more football tonight

The question is how long he was without adequate CPR. That’ll play a huge role in prognosis.

There's a huge difference between what happened last night and Watt's condition. About the only things they have in common are

                                  1. It involved the heart
                                  2. It involved an arrhythmia
                                  3. They were shocked out of the arrhythmia

The difference between AF and VF is like the difference between @jon-nyc playing the piano and @Klaus playing the piano. You decide which is which, of course.

AP says it was four minutes before the ambulance was on the field.

                                        Some medical questions..

                                        1. How long before CPR was administered?
                                        2. Was an AED immediately available and was it used?
                                        3. At what point after oxygen deprivation do we have permanent damage? As I understand it, the young man is still intubated.
                                        4. How common is V-fib from chest trauma? It's not uncommon for players to get the wind knocked out of them or even to have a rare collapsed lung from a hit. And a few football players die every year, mostly in the high school ranks, from various causes, but I've never heard of this happening at the pro or college level, where the collisions are the most violent.

They did have a defib and used it on the field. It was only a few minutes before the ambulance was on the field. Not sure how long before CPR started. I suspect not long.

But the fact that he's still intubated and snowed in bodes ill.
