Of course there was no interest in the truth.

The ones who do not want the truth are the ones who say not to disclose the information, not to publish the information in the first place. There is no “truth” in the absence of information.

So publish yours. Let’s see ‘em, Ax. How are we to know we can trust you are truthful if we can’t see your personal information?

Gee, have I ever asked you to trust me?

Have I ever asked to be entrusted with, say, the command of the nation's entire military might including the nuclear launch codes?

Apparently it's lawful to release POTUS' tax returns to the committee, but the are supposed to stay in camera, unless he approves their public release.

Where's that SCOTUS leaker when they need him?

What legitimate interest does the committee have to seek his tax returns, much less publish them? The fact that he did not turn them over as a candidate is, to me, nothing. No candidate before him that did was required to do so.

"The House Ways and Means Committee argued that it needs the information contained in Trump's tax returns to meaningfully evaluate the IRS's presidential audit program. The Committee says it is considering implementing greater legislative oversight of financial activities conducted by presidents. In particular, it is investigating whether the current IRS audit program is able to adequately enforce the nation's tax laws against a president, like Trump, who has complex business holdings."

These rationales have passed muster with multiple court reviews and appeals.

                              HEre's the law:

                              (f)Disclosure to Committees of Congress
(1)Committee on Ways and Means, Committee on Finance, and Joint Committee on Taxation
Upon written request from the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the Committee on Finance of the Senate, or the chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request, except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.

                              Emphasis mine.

Seems that the committee is acting outside the word of the law in its release of the information. But then, the New York Times did it a long time ago and there was no prosecution.

Let me guess, Trump’s taxes confirm he is a loser much more than he’s a winner. Shall I list his bankrupt companies again? I haven’t seen anything yet but I’m pretty confident Trump’s best asset is his ability to communicate and fool others into think he’s more successful than he actually is.
