We already know what it looks like, since this was all beta tested in Portland.

Sort of. The problem in PDX is that as hard as the city tries, they cannot recruit sufficient numbers of new candidates.
It wouldn't be such a bad job, actually. City council hates you, most progressives hate you, street people hate you, your dog will hate you, wife runs away. But other than that. . . nice uniform, in a ninny sort of way.

In utopia...one of them wakes up to find a burglar (obviously white) in their house (obviously without a door or locks) taking all of their stuff (obviously quinoa and Birkenstock’s), so they decide to call the police (a chicken in the backyard they’ve named Mrs. Justice) and in no surprise to anyone, the chicken doesn’t help.

          "You go first, okay?"

Those now calling for defunding police "should demonstrate by example by getting together and offering zip codes and then declaring themselves a police-free zone," black economic empowerment advocate and community activist Robert Woodson told Just the News. "And then watch how all the criminals will line up to go there."

I don't think I'll ever see in my life a popular and high-status idea any dumber or more simply disprovable by basic statistics, than this idea that white cops murdering innocent black people is among our most pressing social issues. That we need to take measures as drastic as getting rid of police altogether in order to solve it.

That said, I'm less worried about dissolving police departments than I am about all the socialism that the left will attempt to smuggle in along with their solutions to the problem of white cops murdering innocent black people.

Yes, it has. If this were not an election year we would be seeing a fuss, but not nearly what we have seen. It's an effort to drive black voters to the polls.

                    Yes.

The republican position on this will eventually be simply denial.

This can easily be backed-up by statistics.

That doesn't matter, it will be a nazi racist position.

In the event none of the suburbs ever joined, so it still just polices the city.

I think the move cut the average pay/benefits package by half.

In that sense defunding of the police is accurate.

This issue has become similar to the immigration debate. As it became necessary for people to say out loud that they do believe immigration laws have a place in society, or to explicitly deny that, it now seems necessary for us to say out loud that police are useful and deserving of our tax dollars, or to explicitly deny that.

Explicitly denying it still seems quite rare.

But there's probably a lot of 'motte and bailey' arguments being adopted, so it's hard to say.

I watched the MSM news tonight, I think ABC.
Wow, we're in trouble, at least based on their segments. So incredibly one-sided and biased, I'm sure some would quip "Pravda."
If politicians will not stick up for anything, seems to me there will be some police departments that will need to push back. If a police department has blue flu (if that's what it's called), that may be a necessary wake up call to trigger some reasonableness.

There is only one politician that stands up, and that is Trump. But if he keeps tweeting that stupid crazy shit like he did today. . .

I figured maybe he is trying to get himself banned on Twitter, for reasons I can't figure. If not that, then he really is a pompous ass and a bully, and will lose in November based upon his steady stream of nonsense.

Donald Trump is defunding the police
He’s proposed cuts in budget after budget, and is holding up needed fiscal aid.
