I've noticed a number of articles about this recently, almost all by non-Canadian sources.

It's almost as though somebody's got an agenda.

    I was only joking

      @Doctor-Phibes

Well, Copper and, to a lesser extent, Jolly, seem to be unduly concerned about it.

There are concerns about the delivery of health care services here as well but for wholly different reasons than what gets reported abroad.

No problem though. I am sure the foreign press and talking heads like Tucker Carlson know best about it all works.

Yeah, we saw that when we lived in Ontario.

I noticed that the perception of healthcare in both the UK and Canada were very different from the way it was talked about in the US, probably because when Americans discuss foreign healthcare they're really talking about US healthcare.

If Tucker Carlson appears worried about a foreigner dying, it's mostly so that he can say - SEE, THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU WHEN AMERICA BECOMES MORE SOCIALIZED!!!!

If the government is paying for your healthcare, it is in the government's interest for you to die and stop the spending.

Why is that so hard for you guys to understand?

This is not a special problem in Canada or the UK. It is simple budgeting.

Dead people don't consume healthcare. Budget problem solved.

That works in any country, and you don't have to live there to understand it.

Probably explains why the National Institutes of Health are so huge, and such incalculably enormous amounts of money being spent on disease cure and prevention research -- because the government wants all the sick people to die and save them money.

Death proponents point out that between 20-30% of money spent on healthcare makes no difference, because it is being spent at the end stage of life ( last 90 days or so). 75% of Americans die in a nursing home or in a hospital.

I can certainly see the cost savings of euthanasia.

If we're talking about the balancing the savings in SS, it's going to have to be massive.

As I said - whenever Americans talk about foreign healthcare, they're actually talking about American healthcare.

It ain't that rational. If and when funds become finite, what is the better use of money, national defense or Medicare? Public education or Medicare? Infrastructure or Medicare?

American conservatives have yet to find a problem that cannot be solved by encouraging people to buy more guns, and I'm sure the dangers of an aging population are no different in that regard.

                                          Copper's cockamamie theory

I said nothing about the government's wishes or intentions, only motivation.

The motivation exists, there can be no question about this.

Okay so the motivation is cockamamie along with your theory.
