Holy cow. Nine years. It makes me think about her kids growing up without her. 😞

Yes, that thought really stuck with me too. Losing a parent like that is just such an awful thing to happen to a kid.

              I was only joking

@brenda One of my favorite memories of her was a video she had posted of her playing piano, and her kids walking in and out of the shot... The smirk on her face as she played through was priceless.

She stayed at my place in 2007. I had a huge piano party when Elena was playing Carnegie. She wanted desperately to come but couldn’t swing it financially. I offered her my guest room which made it possible. It was odd meeting her for the first time at baggage claim in LGA and taking a cab back to my place. That was when it was still a little odd to meet online people in real life, and this wasn’t just meeting for coffee or a piano party, she was staying the weekend.

I returned a visit the next year, I had a conference in St. Louis and went to see her first. She already had cancer and was bald when I went to see her.

She certainly was lovable wasn't she? Honestly, every once in a while, when I see a stack of red delicious, I think of her.
