They only come in twice a week. Why do they need their own desk?

@Wim said in Guantanamo detainees released after 20 years - without charge: @89th Either you charge and prosecute someone, either you release him/her. Overall I agree. But I'm also aware there's situations that are complex during wartime. The last thing a President wants is to release a prisoner and later find out they helped carry out a terrorist attack.

@Mik said in Watching a house being built: Did you already pick your trees? Most of those in the list drop nuts, which you don’t want. I’d go for the redbuds. They were planted by the builder. We got live oaks, two in front and two in back. And one bottlebrush tree, which we suspect might be dead. It is showing no signs of life since the deep freeze over the holidays.

I don’t really think that ‘a a Trump factor. Frankly, Trump didn’t shut out the press in that type of manner. He did, however, bypass them by taking it directly to the people through Twitter and other sources.

Some years ago I redd that Colombia was developing the means to export roses. I don't know what became of that. It seems as if Colombia is trying to get away from dependence on cocaine, or coca . . . ?

It is a recommendation, not a determination of sentence. The judge may override that recommendation and impose life without parole, and a governor can still grant clemency. A judge may not override a recommendation of life and impose death. This has been an ongoing development. It used to be that it took 10 of 12 jurors, then the Florida Supremes struck that down, requiring unanimous recommendation on at least one aggravating factor. This effort to change the law came from frustration that the Parkland shooter, Nicholas Cruz, was spared the death penalty.

@LuFins-Dad said in What if ancient Egypt persisted today: AI will make costume and set designers for movies obsolete… For that matter, what happens when AI gets access to CGI? Actually, AI driven commercial product that let you create animated videos with mere text prompts already exist. For example (and I cite this without endorsing or recommending it): https://hechicer-ia.com/current-anima/

@Horace said in Is $200K enough?: @Axtremus said in Is $200K enough?: @Horace said in Is $200K enough?: I invented that exact same thing probably a week or so before you did. See you in patent court. But did you file a patent application for the invention before he did? On advice of my lawyer, I am not at liberty to discuss details of pending litigation regarding this matter of an invention that 89th completely stole from me. It might prejudice jurors if they knew the truth of 89th's brazen theft of my ideas, so I cannot discuss the obvious and provable guilt of 89th in this pending litigation. You should be fine if you can show that the other party derived his invention from you.

@Horace said in Mulch mushrooms: What are you, a mycologist? It is a mycoaggression to label something a mushroom just because it looks like a mushroom. I forgot to mention. Do not, I repeat do NOT harm any black small-capped mushrooms.
