@Horace said in Examples of how I’m dumb: I once filled my trash bin with old fungus infested mulch. I was barely able to wheel it to the curb. Then they didn’t empty it because yard waste isn’t allowed. So I shoveled it into 15 smaller bags and have been throwing them away one by one. And @Copper That's funny (or not) about splitting up the disposal of yard waste. For the previous sand, I was able to put about a third of it in the yard waste container and I held my breath as I saw the yard waste truck claw pick it up, I figured the plastic sides of the bin might bust. Luckily it didn't. For the other 2/3s of the sand? I put it on tarps and dragged it to the edge of my yard and just dumped it like a dead body. Luckily it covered the actual dead body that was already there.

@George-K said in The Whistle Blows: By the way, some talking head pointed out something interesting. The whistleblower attested to these allegations under oath. Garland said it at a press conference. [image: 1687744809163-screenshot-2023-06-25-at-8.59.28-pm.png] I might have heard the same talking head as you. They also pointed out that Garland never actually said no, he just deflected to a statement that the investigators had authority to make decisions.

@Horace said in Yes, You Should Pay Off That 3% Home Mortgage: But if one is not averse to investment risk, it remains a good financial decision to invest rather than pay down a low interest mortgage. Yup.

@Axtremus said in What If Russia Becomes Unstable?: https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/25/economy/russia-chaos-oil-global-economy/index.html The article linked above speculates on the economic impact, the tl;dr version seems to be "energy prices go up for everyone." Then there is also Russia's nuclear arsenals ... if there is not a strong enough central government in Russia to control those nuclear arsenals, what then? Kiss your ass good-bye.

If true, and I have little doubt it is true, it proves that Prigozhin was quite right in assessing the incompetence of the Russian MoD. Their deployment to Rostov alone would have forced Putin to blink and offer the Wagner leader an open door. Possible that the Chechens were the only troops reliable and willing to engage Wagner. The Russian public would have never tolerated Chechen troops killing Russians in support of the president.
