I’m starting to see the ‘nametest’ and ‘wow’ quizzes that seem perfectly designed to steal passwords. Hadn’t seen them for quite a while, then just recently they reappeared.

The injuries and the bad calls make football a painful sport to be a fan of. Not worth it.

@Mik said in We've really gone through the looking glass...: when Alice Cooper is too conservative. Not really, he went born-again some years back. (One of my wife's friends was in his car pickup line at school.)

Elegant sophistication, charm and wit really is something you need to outsource. [image: 1693403234071-62225b88-a201-474a-b0e4-dd7d52b9cee9-image.png]

@Doctor-Phibes said in The Tennessee legislature: The same world where a guy who leaves Top Secret documents in his bathroom (or garage) gets re-elected? Yeah, I suppose. The difference is that you're pointing at the ignorance of the general populace. I'm pointing out the incompetence of those who are supposed to serve them.

Big Nutz Lutz was traded to Denver for a 7th rounder. The " I am Gruppe" era begins in New Orleans.

lol I have to admit it'll be amusing if he wins in 2024. With these shenanigans, it seems all but inevitable that he'll have the nomination. I thought there was a chance he'd be beaten in the primaries if America had some distance from the drama and time to reflect, but obviously that won't be happening.

Yeah. That's common sense. I would venture to say I've probably had more adversarial encounters with law enforcement officers than anyone else here. Over a dozen, at least 20 more if you throw in traffic stops. In all that time do you know how many times I've been roughed up or even verbally abused? Zip. Zero. Nada. Why is that? I made damn sure that I presented no threat to them and treated them with respect, even when I might well be headed for jail. I stone guarantee you that if you do that you'll be just fine. Did you know they all carry guns and clubs? Why would you want to accost someone like that?

@George-K if you access to a Costco membership go and see what they have in stock (or even online). All the vendors talk a big game about how their foam is different - but it's all more similar than it is different. Foam is very comfy, but it just runs hotter than springs. Sheets can make a big diff too. Obviously things like microfiber and flannel will be hotter - but specific cotton weaves like percale promote air flow.

@Mik said in "Gun-Free" zone: "If we're just nice to everyone, everyone will be nice to us.". That situation does not exist anywhere in nature. There are always predators and prey. Yep. Want to all but guarantee you get PTSD? No better mentality to have.

Good article. It will be interesting to see 100 years from now. There is a certain % of the population that either needs to or wants to live in a city and the advantages that a city can offer. If may be that there will just be a shift of location. For example, maybe SF will decrease but a current mid-size city will turn into the next big city. I dont think that big cities will disappear however.
