An observation...Many moons ago, the armed forces did a lot of their own construction, maintenance, food service, etc. Contractors were only used for projects occasionally. It was a good way for guys to learn and practice skills. Maybe we need to get back to doing more of what we used to do.

From what I understand, Cheetahs are not particularly aggressive by nature. Of course, as you point out, it IS a mom and her babies.

John Oliver talking about his own show: "It's not journalism, it's comedy – it's comedy first, and it's comedy second." He's said as much many, many times.

@taiwan_girl said in DiSantis on Maher: The "problem" is that I am not sure if many people actually see this. For most programs, TV/streaming is so broken into small viewerships, that it is pretty difficult to get a large number of people to watch. Different groups. YouTube would attempt to disseminate it among both Maher and DiSantis fans.

@jon-nyc said in What the hell is going on in Sweden?: They imported an underclass. Sadly, you are correct. I think in the next decade, there will be some very frank discussions about immigration - legal and illegal - on both sides of the pond.

Don’t need a camera trick, they could have measured it in advance and put a little mark on the board.

There could be some group funding this which views this as a good case to take up to scotus on the issue.

I worked for five years with a large oilwell drilling equipment manufacturer that sold its drilling and service rigs internationally. The head of Rig Engineering was a master tool and die maker/machinist from the UK. The professional engineers in the organization all sought his knowledge and practical advice on how to solve the tough design engineering problems that would turn up from time to time. He had forgotten more about designing onshore and offshore drilling equipment than most engineers could ever hope to know.

@Aqua-Letifer said in All Alike: @Axtremus said in All Alike: The YouTuber failed to support the premise of his video's title that "every film today looks alike." In comparison with older films, the YouTuber has not established whether today's films are more or less self-similar than the films from past eras. The YouTuber neglected many genres and many centers of filmmaking. The YouTuber focus mostly on North American live action drama, neglecting animation, anime, superhero movies, horror, parodies, Western, sci-fi, Bollywood productions, Korean productions, Japanese productions, Hong Kong productions, mainland China productions, etc. They all bring very different styles, visually and otherwise; some could not have existed in older eras. The YouTuber focused on a few film making minutiae and neglected the rest of the world. The overall analysis looks like a student paper with very limited perspective; limited research, limited in time, limited in space. You should make your own response video. Absolutely. I'll let you watch it for me and provide a synopsis.

@Copper said in Stone Bench: Where would that fit? An urban museum, maybe. Our decor is very traditional. If it were modern-ish, I could see it in a hallway, as a place to put on shoes, etc. I found the approach to attaching the wood to the stone interesting, by the way. Steel tubes and rods - epoxy.

The claim relates to breaches of UK Data Protection law arising from the inaccurate processing of the President’s personal data by Orbis following the publication of the false ‘Steele Dossier,’” according to Lowles. Doesn’t seem to be a libel suit, not that I have any claim to understanding British law.

@Horace said in College Gainful Employment Rule: I’m not a huge believer in formal education in any subject not directly tied to marketable skills. I am. It's what I did, and it more than worked out. It made me overqualified for almost every job I could possibly apply for.
