Maybe. I think Trump has somewhere around 40%, locked down. Split a race three ways and it gets interesting.

@Mik said in Hay Cats! Here's your "Dunkin'" post of the day.: We're just not as far from the trees as we'd like to think. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orangutan The name "orangutan" (also written orang-utan, orang utan, orangutang, and ourang-outang[1]) is derived from the Malay words orang, meaning "person", and hutan, meaning "forest".

@mark said in Asteroid found 2 days after brush by Earth: It did use an airplane for a relative size. WTF? What kind of airplane? A piper cub? An Airbus 380? A paper airplane? And how many giraffes is that?

@George-K George, you're looking at many crickets there. You can't see them directly, because they're inside the frog, but they can be seen nonetheless.

https://www.npr.org/2023/07/17/1188047091/chinas-second-quarter-gdp-figures-show-a-faltering-post-covid-economic-recovery "Youth unemployment has been at historic highs at above 20% for months now, a rate comparable to that of Italy." The above is a big problem. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/chinese-students-post-unflattering-graduation-223658533.html "Instead of holding flowers or throwing their caps into the air, Chinese graduates are posting photos of themselves lying on the ground to reflect their feelings toward entering a tough job market. About the trend: The viral trend shows fresh graduates draped over bridges and chairs, lying face down on the ground or throwing their certificates — or even themselves — into the trash." From my seat, which is admittedly not even in the stadium (LOL), it seems that what is popular locally does not work nationally (or sometimes not even on a state level). Even way back when, there were extreme members from both parties, and there always will be. But I believe that the overall tilt of the Democrats and Republics will move back towards the center.

One just has to keep in mind that "racist" is code for "evil". I mean, I know everybody knows that, but it bears keeping that in front of any other thought.

@Jolly said in When Profit Abandons Stewardship: An opinion on tree huggers...They often don't have a clue about their protest of the moment. Take Great, for example. Poor lost soul has no clue how a modern economy works or why so many of the things she proposed were un-doable or impractical. In the case of a farmer or rancher, the good ones know they have to take care of their land, because it is their livelihood. If they screw it up by overgrazing, by applying too many chemicals, by not rotating crops or letting field lie fallow, by letting their precious topsoil be eroded...Well, they're going broke. They've got a longer view than the corporation, whose people are one bad financial report from hitting the bricks. That's what organic farming used to be about. It used to be about crop sustainability, not necessarily the healthiness of the food. It got weird when the left hijacked it.

@Jolly said in The end of outsourced coders?: One thing I'm a little bit optimistic about....As older people die off -those with relationships formed the old way - more media savvy generations will become less and less enchanted with social media for creating relationships, especially those of the most personal nature. Wife or husband hunting on-line (not the hook-up stuff), I predict will fade a bit...OTOH, that presupposes that monogamy still exists. I think that's already started to happen. From relationship counselors to influencers and advice columnists, there are now two kinds: urban faux-feminist hot messes, and more traditional people who, despite their problems, have their shit together. It's freaking obvious who's who and I've noticed that the latter is picking up more interest. They're being cited in the weirdest places, which wasn't so even 5 years ago. We haven't done a 180 or anything, but straight-edge living doesn't get the eyerolls it used to, either.
