We're starting to see some political stirrings in Europe.
Care to share what you see and where you see it?
I see unrest and political change in Germany, France and some problems in Sweden. I don't see as much unrest in the UK, but I do see political change.
I agree, there is a distinct tendency towards political reaction establishing itself in European politics. Not exclusively against Muslims but against non European immigration in general. I see it as one of several aspects of a broad reaction against progressive liberalism as it has developed over the last forty or so years. That could be a good thing in so far as it serves to put a damper on the “Jacobins” and other radicals of modern progressivism. On the other hand, reactionary politics can lead to reopening old wounds from earlier times and governance more akin to what is taking place in Hungary under Orban or even Putin’s Russia where national democratic institutions - weak to start with- are systematically dismantled.
Muslims bring a different worldview to politics vs. Judeo-Christians or people who are nob-religious. Some of the conservative Muslim social views are going to be an interesting political assimilation.
Arab Muslims coming to Europe from the Middle East and North Africa, have little or no concept of the separation of church and state in European political thought and practice. It will take time but I believe that the secular foundations in Western democracies will prevail.
