@George-K said in Why haven't we talked about the NYPD dance video?: That's why I don't understand all the mockery and hate about it. That's because you're taking it at face value.

Manicure is $60 around here. After paying for it, you've spent your French fry money...

https://news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law-week/house-republicans-mask-mandate-dispute-denied-by-supreme-court The US Supreme Court refused to consider if three Republican lawmakers, who violated a Covid-era mask mandate, can sue the House speaker and congressional officials for docking their pay. The court on Tuesday said it won’t hear a claim by Republican Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Marjorie Taylor Green of Georgia, and Ralph Norman of South Carolina that the $500 fines violated the 27th Amendment, which says congressional salaries can’t be reduced by law until there’s an intervening election.

Last night I cut some gold potatoes and air fried them. Kind of limp. Tonight I’m doing broccoli and baby carrots with a nice pompano filet. Healthy and delicious.

@Jolly said in Capital One Is Buying Discover Financial: And the big get bigger. Don't care for it. Barry had the right idea to bust up the big banks. Too bad Timmy didn't listen. The Occupy Wall Street movement also had the right idea to bust up the big banks. Liz also had the right idea to rein in the big banks with the CFPB. Ditto Chris, Barney, and Bernie. The Tea Partiers came along and weakened Barry's hand. Donny did bupkis to bust up or rein in the big banks. Sad.

@Jolly said in Gen Z Snapshot: https://nypost.com/2024/02/17/us-news/foster-kid-who-went-to-yale-says-family-trumps-college/ From that article: There was a period in my adolescence from 9 to 13 where I did have two parents. My adoptive mother entered a relationship with a woman and they raised me for a few years together. The bright spot of my childhood was those years. My grades were the highest they had ever been. I was the most academically focused. I was the least likely to get into trouble at school or with my friends. See, @Jolly, the best parental configuration, based on this guy’s life story and experience with no less than 10 foster families, is one with two women co-parenting together!

@Jolly said in Who in NATO is meeting their 2% commitment?: The article is pure conjecture, full of smoke, mirrors and bullshit, floating on a sea of what-ifs? Probably just conjecture floating in a sea of what-ifs. As TG has accurately stated, all the article points out is that people should be mindful that the legislation is limited to ensuring that Congressional assent is required for the US to leave NATO. It does not prevent the POTUS from incrementally detaching the US from involvement in various areas and aspects of the alliance. Given Trump’s stated position regarding NATO, a second term for Trump could witness the US distancing itself from ongoing NATO initiatives. Whether you call it conjecture or what-ifs it’s still scenario building. That is a part of what people, like Volker, who are in the business of diplomacy and foreign policy, do.

Like electric cars, I think that solar is not there yet. The "hype" does not yet meet the reality. Once battery storage capability and efficient increases (which it will), things will be much better. But I would guess that the amount of solar panels that end up in garbage piles is much less than <<< 1% of the total garbage generated worldwide. There are so many things that are not recycled very well
