@Horace said in Kansas City Karma: there's a thriving job market for the masses of cultural pundits with journalism degrees or journalism ambitions. There isn't. This was an outright lie told with the intention of fueling the audience's hatred for journalism generally, not just these particular dipshits.

@Klaus said in "My a**hole makes more than your mother. ": FWIW, a career in porn is certainly not something I would recommend to anyone. That said, if I had to review job applications and I had to decide between a former porn star and a graduate in queer dance therapy, I'd certainly choose the former. This might be the best straw man ever. Klaus wins the internet today.

@Jolly said in Wannabe Dictator: Well, he may be unfit, but at least he knows what a fax machine is... Possibly but whether the he ever knew how to use one is entirely another matter. Which reminds me, talking about technology…… ….your media darling, FuCa, was absolutely fascinated by the those automatic sliding doors in the one Moscow grocery store he visited. The chained carts really tickled his fancy as well. That FuCa, eh? Too bad his stardom didn’t coincide with the late night airings of the Merv Griffin Show.

@Doctor-Phibes If they put lamb in it no one could afford it. If they used mutton no one would eat it. I agree though about the sweet corn. That’s why we make from scratch at home using beef. I cannot abide the smell of lamb in the oven.

@taiwan_girl said in Will not certify: Actions speak louder than words however. https://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/07/politics/congress-ratifies-bush-victory-after-challenge.html Congress officially ratified President Bush's election victory on Thursday, but not before Democrats lodged a formal challenge to the electoral votes from Ohio, forcing an extraordinary two-hour debate that began the 109th Congress on a sharp note of partisan acrimony. It was only the second such challenge to a presidential race since 1877. Even the bitter contest in 2000 between President Bush and Al Gore did not produce a formal challenge to the results from Florida, the site of a 36-day standoff. Although House members objected, no senator joined in, as is required under federal law. But on Thursday, a single senator -- Barbara Boxer, a California Democrat who was sworn in Tuesday for a third term -- joined Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Democrat of Ohio, in objecting to Ohio's 20 electoral votes for Mr. Bush, citing voting irregularities in the state. The move turned what would have otherwise been a polite ceremony into a political and historical drama. Mrs. Boxer said she had acted "to cast the light of truth on a flawed system which must be fixed now." Instead of holding a courteous joint session to certify the election, lawmakers were forced to retreat to their separate chambers for two hours of debate and a vote on the challenge. Democrats, nearly all of whom conceded that Mr. Bush was the rightful winner, said the move cast a needed spotlight on voting rights. Republicans called it waste of time.

It comes down to what makes a "good" tool. Good for what? Good for whom? In this case it seem Google thinks adding certain restrictions makes this tool "better." In some other cases someone else may argue the opposite. Besides, maybe it's not just a "tool." Maybe it's a "platform," or a "commercial operation" with profit motives, or a "public/community service" with benevolent interests.

Thank Quebec. Probably a good idea. Visa requirements should not have been lifted but industry here complained loudly and to no end about the requirement when it was in place earlier.

I agree with @Doctor-Phibes that most people earning (or having) that kind of money (for example: net worth = USD$100MM+) "are not going to suffer in any meaningful way." But, it is all relative. Someone told me that the definition of rich is someone who has more/makes more than you do. I think that mostly, people on this forum board are doing "okay". In the eyes of a lot of people, they would think that the people on here are quite rich.

Another fun one which I just started to play is called "strands". A word search in a grid where every letter is used and all words are related to the given clue. Took me a bit to understand exactly how to play, but fun It is part of the same section of games as "connections" and "wordle"

@George-K His vaccine hesitancy, and I'm not talking about COVID, put him into the "whacko" column. Same here. A genuine nutter. The latest revelation confirms it.
