Best opening scene of a mediocre movie

I always loved the opening sequence of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." I think this was from 1979?
The music was fabulous, the special effects were good, and the whole scene made you wonder, "What the HELL is going on?"
"That's within Kilgon boundaries! Who are they fighting?"
Gerry Goldsmith's score is unbeatable for tension, etc.
If only the rest of the movie had been half, no one quarter as good.
