I don't understand why there should be no tax on profits made trading in precious metals. The metal's value has no real connection to the legal tender aspect.

@Jolly said in On site > Hybrid > Remote: That's because if you want more money in government, you need the title and X number of TO's under you. So there is a very strong push to "create" managerial slots that aren't really required. You shuffle papers, attend meetings and do intense planning before lunch or after your nap. Hey, I resent that. I can't post more now, I've got a planning meeting.

@NobodySock said in Jewish Space Lasers are back: let's be clear. If the Dems indeed have the ability to control the weather down in the Gulf, why hasn't Mar Lago been anniliated yet? Especially considering the Supreme Court has given Biden permission to drone strike Trump.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Another assassination attempt?: @LuFins-Dad said in Another assassination attempt?: “These accusations are complete bull---t,” Miller said. “I’m an artist. I’m the last person that would cause any violence and harm to anybody.” You know who else was an artist....? The only artist I can remember is Rembrandt, but I'm not sure if you're thinking about Rembrandt. Also the guy who made my office desk out of reclaimed redwood, maybe some people would call him a craftsman, but personally, I think of him as an artist. I really like how the grains of the planks go together, and the finish is subtle but appealing. Are you thinking of Rembrandt, or are you thinking of the fellow who made my reclaimed redwood office desk?

Aliens studying humanity would come inexorably to the conclusion that black lives do not, in fact, matter to the Democrats in control of these cities.

@Mik said in Stevie Nicks on SNL: Saw that. What I liked is she was clearly playing live. Yes. But hasn't that been the standard on SNL for a long time?

@Jolly said in Palladium: @Aqua-Letifer said in Palladium: These are the exact same motherfuckers who for the past 50 years have threatened to disown their kids for majoring in theatre or wanting to study fine art. Now, you and I know that's not true. Well, it's weird. I find it to be less true in the south, where it's less uncommon for families to have a musical tradition, or woodcarving or something similar. But I've gotten a lot of shit for my degree. I've had a job interviewer ask me if I wiped my ass with my master's for all the good it did me. Vast majority of that derision comes from conservatives. It's like they're okay with the arts so long as it's something people do in their basements and never bother other people with it. As for a profession, though, owning your own business is the noble pursuit. Studying the arts makes you a loser expecting a handout. That's the line. I know would-be music, theatre, literature, fine art and design majors who did business, psychology and teaching instead because daddy threatened to cut them off if they didn't make that choice. Guess what their parents' politics were. Which has always been insane to me because as I said, it's the same people who lament the loss of traditional values. How do they think those values get passed down, the Necronomicon? There is indeed good stuff happening on an institutional level in the humanities, but most of it's coming from conservative or Christian organizations. And there aren't nearly enough of them.
