From @George-K 's data link. Red line is a 15-year moving average. The next chart is average sea temperature. Anyway... conclude what you will. I think there is some correlation, but not as much as some folks want you to believe. Note the above is in the "opinion" section. Ha... back in Virginia when I replaced a bathroom vanity mirror I placed a skeleton toy behind it with a note that said "Finally, I've been dying to get out" or something stupid like that. One day it'll be found...

One of the guys I went to high school with, worked his butt off at different PT and odd jobs. His mom and dad helped him go to college, but he bought his own vehicle once he had enough money. A solid blue 1978 Chevy C10. 256 in-line 6 with a three speed. I think the only options he had was A/C, AM-FM radio and a cigarette lighter IIRC, he paid a little over $4000 for that truck.

https://deadline.com/2024/10/denis-villeneuve-dune-3-plans-1236119697/ Denis Villeneuve says that his “break” is over and that he will ”go back behind the camera faster than I think” to film the third instalment of his “deep” immersion into Frank Herbert’s Dune universe. “I’m in the writing zone right now,” the filmmaker says, referring to Dune: Messiah, though he was careful not to call it Dune: Part Three. Villeneuve insists that Dune: Part One and Part Two are ”for me like one entity. It’s a movie made in two parts. It’s finished, it’s done.” The Canadian-French director says that he could have stopped at Dune: Part Two, “but yes, like Herbert did with Dune: Messiah, I think it’ll be a great idea to do something completely different. The story takes place like 12 years after where we left the characters at the end of Part Two. Their journey, their story is different this time, and that’s why I always say that while it’s the same world it’s a new film with new circumstances.” That new movie, he continues “will finish the Paul Atreides arc.”

I am too lazy to read her work. So I’m just going to key off the term “Rhode Scholar” and believe that she has better-than-even odds then the typical Ivy League B.A. degree holders to make it to a somewhat influential public policy position.

Stupid. I can get them 1800 Haitians working at $15 per hour. That’s total, mind you, PPG won’t have to pay FICA or benefits. Or overtime, for that matter. All I need is for Jon to help me finance buying a couple of buildings…

Glaring admission. Another one that deserves an honorable mention, from back when A&E actually made some pretty decent tv movies... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0287535/

@LuFins-Dad said in Accept Cookies?: https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/oakmont-bakery-presidential-cookes/ TLDR: Trump’s up 21,000 to 6200. If you adjust for average BMI by party affiliation that’s a dead heat.

Thanks for sharing that, George. Weirdly it did help. A friend of mine shared a story with me about how he and his girlfriend had 3 rabbits. (Well, she did, he was just sort of along for the ride.) But one was a total bastard and so as a vindictive kind of a thing, she left without telling him and left that rabbit behind to make him deal with it. For several years he and the rabbit just kind of put up with each other. The rabbit didn't want to interact, didn't want to socialize, just stayed in his cage. But eventually they got really attached and it was awful when he passed. Animal relationships are weird.
