https://deadline.com/2020/11/david-prowse-darth-vader-covid-coronavirus-cause-of-death-star-wars-1234623134/ In an interview with UK’s The Sun, Prowse daughter Rachel confirmed that her father, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, had been hospitalized for the last two weeks with Covid. Confirming the cause of death, Rachel Prowse said, “It’s horrible that Covid restrictions meant we did not get to see him and say goodbye. But when we went to collect his stuff from the hospital the nurse said what a cool guy he was. He was such a larger-than-life character. He would have loved to see himself trending on Twitter.”

@nobodyssock said in Dr. Scott Atlas resigns from virus task force: He was only hired because of his one qualification, to repeat and promote the Trump narrative of "just ignore it". THat's right. Come to Chinatown! New York is OPEN, baby!

More Japanese people will die this month from suicide than died in the entirety of the Vietnam war. (Not trying to make light of what is an awful situation)

Isn't it amazing that everybody still had multiple young children? These days, everything has to be perfect for most people before they decide to become parents: Safe job and sound financial situations, a home suitable for children, good schools in the environment etc. A part of that difference is of course explained by effective birth control, but I believe that's not the whole story.

Those that only worry about covid deaths are making a terrible mistake. The world is not that simple. There is no reason to believe that a 100% 2-month shutdown would be any more beneficial to the country than a 0% 2-month shutdown. It might save the lives of some but take the lives of others. There is no way of knowing which.

@Mik said in China tries to change the narrative: @Loki said in China tries to change the narrative: Kissinger has a scary take on state of US -China relations. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-16/kissinger-warns-biden-of-u-s-china-catastrophe-on-scale-of-wwi I don't know that I agree with Kissinger. I think we can ill-afford to support a regime that imprisons 2-3 million in re-education camps. The changes we have hoped to see in an opening China have clearly not materialized. The way we are going, we'll soon be begging them to help us with our re-education camps.

@jon-nyc said in A republic, if you can keep it.: It’s been interesting watching them lower the bar to the point where they no longer even claim to have an view based on evidence. They now pretend to derive it from first principles. Soon they’ll completely shift the burden of proof, and demand to be convinced that the election wasn’t stolen.
