@Jolly said in Coffee waste for reforestation: Anything that needs calcium. That's why you put a couple of Tums under your tomato plants. Interesting. I did not know that.

@kluurs said in Contemplating mistakes...: I found a breeder in Ohio who said they would ship some birds to me. I've done that in the past - but have also had a couple of birds not survive the trip - and two others who passed shortly upon arrival. I'm a little cool to the idea of trying shipping again - and it is winter. They're typically shipped through the USPS. Would it be worth it to drive out to Ohio and pick them up in person? Maybe make a weekend out of it or something like that?

Kind of a fun statistic, but I wonder how much effect there is when the lawyers actually present in court to the Supreme Court judges. I know someone who works in the Thai Supreme court for one of the judges and basically writes the majority of the opinion (with the judge doing some editing, etc.). I know not exactly the same as the US Supreme Court, but I kind of doubt the arguements in front of the judges changes the mind of anyone very often.

In Asia, the numbers are the big thing. Certain number combinations are considered lucky, for example, #8 in CHinese culture means "money" or "riches". The goverment put these special plates up for auction, and i remember reading that in Hong Kong, a license plate with 8's put together (8888) sold for millions of dollars.

@kluurs said in The Geography of Fertility: The key to surviving as an economy will thus be to encourage immigration.... Totally reasonable to have laws that make legal immigration easy, for those who demonstrate a willingness and capacity to contribute to society. I'm sure it gets more difficult as the government tries to determine who is who, in an efficient manner.

Yes, does seem just a publicity seek. "I am going to issue an executive order to arrest anyone who commits murder" One other thing to check would be to see if they have diplomatic status and could prevent their arrest.

I'd be very interested in exactly what codes were not met. I doubt a tent meets code either, but I'd rather have one than be under the stars.

Play a Bechstein and a Yamaha CF series in the same size side by side and you'll also prefer the Yamaha.

I mean, you can have each person in the country count one ballot, and then ask the remaining half billion people to double check their work.

That should bring a much needed boost to the richest bit of England. If they really want to help, they should emigrate to the north. Having said that, most Telegraph readers and writers think the Cotswolds is in the north of England.
