We have a sitting president who is lying about a stolen election and supporting the mob that just invaded the Capitol because they didn’t like the outcome of a free and fair election and wanted to stop the peaceful transition of power. Think about that. ....And just because some here agree with the president’s politics (as I do, btw), they’re willing to overlook all of that and take pride in what just happened. Given how patriotic I know they are, how they haven’t disavowed this president by now is mind boggling.

Because I think the election was rigged. Certainly by the media coverage. Certainly by the questions in the first debate. Definitely by the lack of Biden coverage and by the lack of Hunter Biden coverage. Definitely rigged by a never ending litany of Russia! Russia! Russia!

And knowing how things have been done for many years in politics down here ( or in Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, etc.), where votes are routinely falsified or "found" in the middle of the night, I have little doubt of significant fraud.

Trump, whether he's right or wrong, believes an election was stolen from him. And he's going down swinging. I don't think he had any intention of inciting the level of protest that he created...But remember, this wasn't Anti-fa in Portland. And neither was the police response.

Lastly, my opinions are my own. And if you don't like that, you can kiss my natural born, Southern ass.

I appreciate the reply. I agree the media has been anti-conservative for a while, at least the last few decades. But how that leaps to an election being fraudulent is beyond me.

I’d just wonder how you’d react if in 2012 Obama lost to Romney by a landslide but Obama refused to accept the loss, and constantly spread a lie of the election being stolen and a mob of Obama fans storming the Capitol. I’m pretty sure you’d grab your shotgun and head north to defend democracy.

Why does Trump’s rhetoric work with these people?

He told them he loved them.

    And he stuck with them.

    Nobody else did.

    So they are loyal.

    Simple.

Some people will believe fucking anything.

What gives me hope about there being a future past the 20th is just how few people here believe this kind of thing. Most people aren't crazy. Most conservatives aren't. The sore losers might try some shit but at least there will be heightened security later in the month and Trump basically has no legitimate backers.

I call that "Democrats riding bikes"

Republicans would have charged in carrying AR-15's and Confederate Battle Flags, and shown that damn train a thing or two about self-sacrifice!

Was the ‘curb executive power’ thread unfair to somebody?

Our annual expenses went down this year even including paying one semester grad school tuition.

Not only that, but there are some people who don't get it until they file their 2020 taxes, by design.

@loki said in About the emergent GOP theory that the VP has unilateral power to reject state electors:

    Treason, sedition, end of democracy.

The only thing I am curious about is what is the next level of rhetoric? I am not creative enough to know what else can be imagined to scare sheep.

It’s sort of implied but you forgot ‘rigged election’.
