In 1976 Cipolla actually published this theory in a book with this theory. He was a highly regarded economist and historian. The book is still or again, in print: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/639356/the-basic-laws-of-human-stupidity-by-carlo-m-cipolla/ A bit on the author: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlo_M._Cipolla

@mark said in How much RAM?: 16 is fine for what you do. If you intend to get into editing videos or large photos, go for 32. Agree.

What an idiot. Of course, I'm sure there are any number of cases of 'whataboutism' we could raise if we were so inclined....

Gah . . . painful; in the post-game press conference Brady took the defeat on himself. "I cost us the game." He stood up there and literally took one for the team. Praised the other Bucs players. Painful to watch.

Last year was about normal. We set out a table with packaged snacks set out a few feet from the porch. Worked fine.

Our kiddo made out crazily. Each house was decked out, most had a theme going, and families were hanging out outside. Trick-or-treaters started forming ad-hoc groups among themselves. Our daughter dressed up as Anna, and she made friends with a VERY scando-looking kid who naturally was Elsa. We told folks why we were down there and half the houses doubled up on what they gave us as a result. Halloween kicks ass. Anyone who says otherwise can look forward to flaming shit bags and sugar in their gas tank, courtesy of me.

We had a pair of gray cats we bought from a couple in Ohio when we lived there. Turns out they were half Russian blue. Must be why they were almost free. They were really beautiful, if not pure breds. They were named after the Fords, Henry and Edsel.

Nobody's getting rich in the American health care system. It's a magical money evaporator. Maybe P*D can write a book about how it's all totally normal market forces, nothing to see here.

@george-k said in Netflix and Chappelle: I have to admit that this was my first exposure to Chappelle. Are his earlier shows funnier? I’ve been a massive Dave fanboy for a long long time. That last special wasn’t really comedy.

Here’s the whole sonata. I remember reading people being critical of it because he played it too slowly. Link to video It must be at least 10 years since I saw that video. It is part of his concert in Paris. During the concert he plays the Beethoven Op. 14 number one, and the Beethoven Op. 28. I have the DVD of that recital somewhere.

You don't keep a guy like that around because of his ability to turn a wrench. You keep him around because he's seen everything.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_(sports) Miscellaneous In any context where a game score or the pair of teams meeting in a game are mentioned, the team mentioned first (left or top) is the home team, except in the United States, Canada, and Japan, where home teams are mentioned second. The North American and Japanese practice of listing the home team second likely derives from baseball, in which the home team bats after the visiting team in each inning.[citation needed][8] Exceptions are found in most North American soccer competitions, where the international standard of listing the home team first is mostly adhered to.
