Rogan's guest noted that calling CNN "mainstream media" is not accurate. They are "corporate media".

I like that, it's way more accurate to describe most "news" outlets as "corporate press". I think I'll start doing that.

If we still had a leader in the White House he would declare this a national emergency and run over California. But we don't have a leader now.

If it's not a mandate then why is Biden calling it a mandate? Why are tens of thousands of people about to lose their jobs?

    It's amandate.

interesting story. Thanks for sharing. Cemeteries are always put me in a melancholy mood, especially those that are dedicated to soldiers.

Each of them has a story and it unfortunately ended in a place far from their home, on unfamiliar ground, and without their family and friends around them. 😞

    That's not a fucking job.

It’s a ground level opportunity in a startup. Very typical in Silicon Valley. You get underpaid with equity upside.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the model. What I'm saying is, the "company" who wrote that particular ad won't last the quarter.

Not really. The OSHA rule applies to all businesses over 100 employees.

    Much bigger scope.

83% of U.S. businesses have fewer than 20 employees.

That number's much higher in red states and counties.

    an insurrection against democracy

Funny. No one is charged with that crime. I keep reading that word. I don't think it means what the author thinks it means.*

    (insert Inigo Montoya picture here:____________________)

Governing by executive order has become the new normal.

The lack of perspective is shocking.

The vast majority of his appointments were white males

It took 4 paragraphs to get there.

In each of these cases, the supreme court deprived the affected parties of a chance to be fully heard

Heh. Lack of Standing was all I heard in the last two months of 2020.

    *(edit to add footnote)

Seems the author is a former judge. Never let the law get in the way of your opinion, judge.

    Nice group

I think there is probably a little altitude difference between them.

But that is a very nicely positioned grouping. That is the result of some good planning and execution.

As much as I laud Laurie's devotion to the blues, something about his voice just doesn't, pardon the expression, resonate with me.

    I guess it's a Neil Young thing.

He has, I think, two albums out. They're on Spotify/Apple Music/Amazon, etc.

ETA: The section with Tom Jones was spectacular.

It all sounds suspiciously like 2008 to me.

Because it’s literally the same guy. Peter Schiff.

The funny thing was he even lost money in 2008 when the shit actually hit the fan, because it didn’t hit the fan in the precise way he predicted and placed major bets on. I had so much fun with that, mostly on WTF but probably some here too.

The downside was that Bongwater Q Liberalstein (remember him?) left the fora right after that out of embarrassment for having gone along with him.

Moral of the story: if you think the SHTF is coming, just short the S&P, don’t get too precise about the order in which the blades will touch their first piece.

    With time,

5+ or so years out, though, right? And also who knows, maybe vaccines are screwing with that.

There's a lot of debate right now about vaccines and whether that's happening.
