Too much! The geese are positively riveted. There are so many kind people in the world, doing small kindnesses like this. Thanks. This was special.

@Ivorythumper said in Puff piece on Karine: @taiwan_girl said in Puff piece on Karine: “What we see in others is always a mirror of what we see in ourselves" LOL I think that is rather wrong. What we see in others is frequently that which we do not see in ourselves, but wish that we had: charm, intelligence, success, confidence, talent, etc. I think that's often true—it explains pretty much every internet troll out there. But it's also not a universal explanation. Sometimes, you have expectations of others—e.g., respect other people's feelings—that you perceive as not being sufficiently met. Has nothing to do with wishing you were as charismatic or confident as the blowhard in the room, and everything to do with you concluding that he's an asshole. I suspect that when we are irritated or even disgusted by others, we might react adversely because we realize our own frailties and susceptibilities, and it is easier to externalize our own "badness" on to others rather than do the hard work of fixing ourselves. Again, only sometimes. Placing a negative judgment on, say, a total douche in public is an immediate reaction and not always incorrect. Failing to live up to our own expectations has nothing to do with others' social inadequacies and how much harm they can cause everyone around them. Sure, with some introspection, we might decide to be more constructive and take the Stoic route to self-improvement instead, but not liking some assclown doesn't always have to do with projection.

The adult teachers don't allow disruption of the ceremony. Good. A high school graduation is not a place for digestive system abuse advocates.

The orioles seem to be gone, as well as the grosbeaks. Oh well. We had them and they will remember next year. Not sure how they do that, but they do.

Pseudocholinesterase deficiency (aka butyrylcholinestesterase) is something that every anesthesiologist is familiar with. Pseudocholinesterase is involved with the metabolism of succinylcholine, a paralytic drug. Mild deficiencies cause a drug that should last 5-10 minutes to last an hour or so. Severe deficiencies can cause you to be paralyzed for hours and hours. I've seen a couple, but only one was undiagnosed. Well, I should say it was diagnosed by me, LOL. It's an autosomal dominant trait, and it's no big deal, if you know about it beforehand. There is no treatment, afaik. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudocholinesterase_deficiency

@jon-nyc said in Geez, guys...: Just looking at the wiki entry on the show. Dick Van Dyke is still alive. I have a friend from Danville Illinois, which is the hometown of Dick Van Dyke. My friends daughter was in the high school musical (same high school that Dick Van Dyke went to) and they were doing a play that Dick Van Dyke did as one of his first "star" parts on Broadway. The high school wrote to him, mentioning this and saying he was welcome to come see the show. From what I heard, he not only came to the show, but came early, rehearsed with the students and performed a song or two with them during the show. (BTW - his TV show is quite funny)

We are being led by fools. What's worse is the fact that some people are so invested in their democrat/leftist religion that they defend these fools.
