@jon-nyc yes... That was my first attempt at the cold-pan sear. Not bad for a first try, though.

I’m getting all the memes from the CS diaspora. And one guy who’s still there. [image: 1679304334814-f367c3bc-feee-410d-9b2e-cc41fcb78bb4.jpeg]

@Jolly said in The Anti-Bucket List: Hopefully, it's a good rodeo. Do stick around for the bull riding... The bull riding was fun. The food was average and of course overpriced. The tip choices at the kiosk which started at 15% was a nice touch. Couldn't justify giving them an extra $10 on top of the $70 for chicken strips, a corn dog, and some deep fried desserts. Today I learned that NRG stadium is not built for people with long legs. Economy class on small jets seems spacious by comparison.

@Copper said in The law school mismatch: @Horace said in The law school mismatch: we don't really understand intelligence or genius fully We understand Jolly not playing in the NFL fully. That part of diversity is settled science. That is a good beginning. The next part of diversity is very similar. Well, despite the fact that I last wore pads in 1976, need a sundial to time my 40 and have a noodle arm, I can dream, can't I?

@Jolly said in Mean Girls: You sell the rights, you sell the rights. That part is going nowhere . Exactly. OTOH, studios are famous for their creative accounting. Thar be the booty, mates. I suspect they owe her millions. Exactly, again. She's not the first victim of "creative accounting."

“Fake abstract vs. real abstract” is less of an issue from a utilitarian standpoint. It matters more that real and good research were done, that real and good experiments were conducted, that real and honest data were collected and published. After that, I don’t particularly care whether the researchers write the abstracts themselves or use AI to help them write the abstracts, as long as the abstracts accurately reflect the research, the experiments, and the data. I can easily see a brilliant Japanese/Korean/Chinese researcher using AI to help him generate the English text to use to publish his work in an English language journal or symposium. It may more effectively get his ideas and results across the language barrier than the researcher doing the same without AI. And that will benefit not only the researcher but also the field of his research.

Yup. Core strength is where it’s at there. Glad the symptoms subsided. Ever considered Pilates? MFR’s shot did her some good. Seriously reduced pain the first day. We will see how it progresses, but she should be much better for Hawaii.
