@Jolly said in Firing squads anyone?: He's spitballing. I rather suspect that isn't spit.

Much more efficient use of area, with no gaps that could cause movement damage during shipping.

@Doctor-Phibes said in The Rise of Vice: Top 10 Countries with the highest rate of incarceration Comparing to other countries really isn't the best measure. If money was no object, what is the optimal % of people incarcerated? What is the goal? The USA has 629 people per 100,000. Let's try 1,000 per 100,000 and see how that works, don't worry about the rest of the world. Also, let's remember our convicts are very comfortable and well educated compared to the rest of the world.

@jon-nyc said in Rogan and Taibbi: @George-K There was a great Advisory Opinions podcast on it. I don't remember the details but I think there basically had to be coercion - a real or perceived threat. The Twitter Files have shown quite clearly that Twitter was very comfortable saying no to the FBI, to the Trump administration, to the Biden campaign, and to congress critters. They clearly had no concern about retribution. I doubt the law is so badly worded as to specify threats only. Obviously the public trust is equally violated if some sort of compensation is given for compliance. No stick, just a carrot. Then imagine the FBI owing you a favor, and it becomes obvious that this stuff is indefensible.

@jon-nyc said in Sydney ≠ Sidney: True of about 90% of Australia too, though not Sydney. Yup. At least we don't have remote areas where 90% of the wildlife is trying to kill you. We do that in the cities.

Sure wish they’d close a few here. Wal-Mart has decimated family owned retail outlets in rural areas.

The water had to be cold to prevent lens fogging. Maybe those ladies were better actresses than you would think.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Jon, I've got your information.: @Jolly said in Jon, I've got your information.: @Doctor-Phibes said in Jon, I've got your information.: Jolly used to post a warning in the thread title when he posted one of these imbecilic articles, presumably as a favour to me, as I had repeatedly expressed my opinions regarding their nonsensical right wing bullshit masquerading as thought-provoking discussion topics. The countless minutes I've wasted reading this stuff is time I'll never get back, sadly. Well, it's not really countless. Three minutes. Tops. I can go back, if you wish. I really have thought about giving you a series of Daily Mail du jour articles. The Daily Mail articles are generally much more useful to me than The American Thinker's as they do a good job of reminding me why I left Britain in the first place. As a former media delivery executive (paperboy) of longstanding, I probably still have a bit of their newsprint ingrained into my fingers to this day. Like Lady Macbeth, I can never fully remove the stain. If that then be the case, I'd name my dog Spot. For then, thou couldst point at the door with authority and proclaim, Out, damn'd Spot! out, I say!—One; two: why, then 'tis time to do't.!
