Waterfowl are not the smartest of birds. The Canadian geese around here just walk out into the middle of four lane roads, expecting everyone to stop. They usually do. I won't run over them, but I advance on them slowly, honking the horn. It's not good to teach wild creatures that traffic will stop for them.

@Mik said in Hay Cats! Your "Hug me in the rain" post of the day.: Amazing. Where's Brenda? Those are White's treefrogs, native to Australia and kept as pets throughout the world. They're also called Dumpy frogs. While it's often said frogs are solitary creatures, l think they're quite social. Mine often like to sleep side by side together. They even pick a favorite frog to be a cuddle buddy. These two in the pic look very much like buddies.

Yeah, lower alcohol consumption is big in the Mik house too. This week I’ve been sipping an Italian white - 5.6% by volume and very tasty. We’re on a pretty strict two drink limit, and that only a couple times a week. I don’t get hungover, just sluggish. Moderation claims another victim. I wouldn’t mind so much if the bar didn’t keep getting higher.

I really, really wanted to like this. At the end of Season 1, I thought, "Well, maybe it'll get better." I haven't watched Season 2, but the reviews were (cough) less than favorable. Being the naive person I am, I thought I could just jump into season 3 and pick up because...why not. Not gonna waste my time. It's sad to see how this franchise has gone into the path of Star Wars crapper.

Watching a couple of YouTube lawyers talking about the case. "No, you don't have a right to privacy when you're searching SOMEONE ELSE'S HOUSE!!" "Political speech, criticizing government actions is at the highest level of protected speech." And the Streisand effect.... Streisand Effect: 🧩 Afroman raided based on warrant alleging drugs, etc 🧩 Search damages property & discovers nothing 🧩 Afroman uses his home security footage in a video 🧩 LEOs get pissed & sue alleging invasion of privacy ️ Streisand Effect

A "Supercut" of Kennedy's questioning. Link to video Now, in fairness, I suppose this is kind of obscure stuff....to most of us. But, in a job interview, which these hearings basically are, shouldn't you be prepared for this stuff. And, questions about Brady rules and the Constitution should not be exactly obscure to a judge.

It costs $2.50/mile to ship a van load of product from a port or distribution hub. IOW, about $800 for 40,000 pounds of electronics, widgets, whatever, from the Port of New Orleans to Shreveport. Or what, two or three cents/pound?

@jon-nyc said in Chicago Air Taxi: Nice. We used to have helicopter service from midtown to LGA. I don’t think it’s there anymore. Remember this? https://gothamist.com/news/in-1977-five-were-killed-in-helicopter-accident-atop-midtowns-pan-am-building In 1977, Five Were Killed In Helicopter Accident Atop Midtown's Pan Am Building On May 16th, 1977, a New York Airways helicopter killed five people in Manhattan. While it did not crash, it did tip over as it sat idling on the heliport atop the Pan Am Building (now the MetLife Building, at 200 Park Ave) in Midtown. This caused the aircraft to come apart—as it tipped over a large rotor blade snapped off and, as the NY Times described it the next day, "slashed people to death before coming to rest 59 stories below and a block away on Madison Avenue." The first four victims were on the roof, the fifth was on the street below. Others suffered non-fatal injuries. [image: 1679679051506-e94ad04d-c826-4f44-a804-6ceda3bbf1a8-image.png]
